Here in the UK the friday and monday of Easter weekend are bank holidays, and most people get the day off. Incresingly though, firms seem to expect people to work right through bank holiday weekends, I'm working every day of Easter. Does your firm make you do this?

Hi I have just spotted this discussion as I have posted on re this May Bank Holiday weekend. I also have to work every Monday whether it is a Bank Holiday or not but I think if I was asked to work Easter Sunday I would refuse, the same as Christmas day and a firm has to allow that i they are your beliefs, the same with Good Friday. Years ago nothing opened on these days except maybe an odd corner shop but now as you say it seems to be expected. I would prefer it it the shops were closed myself then everyone could really have a break together, emergency services and hospitals obviously still have to function but non essentials should close. I hope you are getting a break this weekend. Ellie :D

I work online as a chat moderator for an online bingo company and I am also british so it is the bank holiday here. Unfortunatly we dont get scheduled holidays even have to work xmas day if the rota says so but we do get double time for it and its not exactly hard work as it is home based.
