have you payed much attention to the presidental elections ? have you noticed the many things that have occured with the canidates ? if you can recall, do you remeber the pressure that mitt romney had to endure because he was a mormon (so am i by-the-way) ? or how about one of the member's on the clinton campagne making such a racial, stereotypical statement ? or have you heard about barack obama's wife making such a terrible remarks ? or what about reverend wright ? do you recall the picture being brought up on m.s.n.b.c showing former president bill clinton shaking hands with reverend wright ? my point to these questions my fellow americans is if the canidates would spend more time working on their campanges and less time attacking each other because of they're race, gender or politcal views then i belive we will have a great president ! one who will no doubt be able to repair our economy and and secure our borders. but this is not why i wish to talk to you, i wanted to talk to you about black americans and the politics of the u.s.a ! do you belive barack obama has what it takes to be president ? in my oppinion, i think he should maybe gain more experience with the political system by being vice president perhaps. he approves of a state sponcerd medicare system, which means that every doctor out there will be paid the same amount of money regardless of how they treat they're patients or take care of them. (hilary suports this view too) he also suports and immediate withdrawal of troops from iraq. in my oppinion iraq is like a hornets nest, and if we withdraw our troops immediatly then we would have "moved the hornets our of it's nest for more hornets to occupie it" this means that we took saddam out of power, leaving irag right now could mean that someone far worse than saddam could take power in iraq and years from now our children will have to go back and and re-occupy it agin. last but most important he also justifies his wifes and reverend wights remarks about america by saying saying martin luther king jr. once criticised america and there by they aren't doing anything wrong. m.l.k did criticise america. but he did it in hopes that america would change. did you hear any words of change when you hear his wife or reverend wright speak ? i do not think so. my point to this discussion is should we assume that this is the way all black ameicans would be if they were running for president? i do not belive we should. you must be minful of the fact that in evetry race there is whats call a racial separtist. they're views and opinions (to an ignorant person) is like an old saying which goes "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch". america will always be around, we have forever to have a black president or a fe-male president or both. just make sure you choose the right president this election because your vote will determine the course of our country ! i love america , this is the land of the free. regardless of wether you want only your race of people to be free or you don't, the freedom is there for us. we are the protector's of the free world. do not base your vote of the stereotypes of people because of they're race or gender but on the way they value our freedom take care and good luck -oliver the great !

You make a lot of good points. Mainly, you cannot judge a book by it's cover. We have a great black man in office here in our town and he is a wonderful politician which you never hear a bad word about. He is well like by people of all different races.

I agree the candidates and their campaigns need to start concentrating on the issues instead of all this nonsense like picking apart every word someone says looking for a racist or sexist meaning and worrying about someone's pastor or religious faith which really isn't any of our business. If you really take Michelle Obama's comments in the right context you may just discover she didn't say anything any different than millions of people say every day. I love my country as much as anyone but we could certainly do a lot of things better and there are times when I don't feel all that proud of "US". Michelle was talking about how this year there are more young people getting engaged in the political process. She's absolutely right in feeling not so proud of our youth in the past for not paying any attention to who is going to run our nation in the future. She was also correct in saying that to some people American must seem mean and cynical! I've personally known good people who have needed to seek out some help for the first time in their lives and they were attacked by some conservatives for being "lazy" and "looking for a hand-out". Sorry, to me that's pretty mean and cynical. Anyway, I'm certainly not about to base my vote on stereotypes or race or gender but on who I think will do the best job. Experience may matter to some extent but some of our best leaders didn't have much experience when they took office but they had intelligence and good judgment (unlike the man in the White House now) and the foresight to surround themselves with good, capable and EXPERIENCED advisers.
