When we were a kid, we were called with nicknames and some of us outgrew them while other not. I had my nickname since I was young and its Mini. But as i grew older, my aunts tease me as its not fit to me anymore as I should be called maxi and not mini. Well, it actually came from my real name. I had a cousin who we used to call AMAG - meaning mold in english. Its the initials of her name. When she grew up we jsut call her by her name as her mother dont like it calling her "mold". So how baout you, why are you given your nickname?

Do you know one of the things that made me sad as a child? It might seem childish but I was sad because I was never given a nickname. All of my other siblings (5) had nicknames but never me and I never understood why. My name is Linda so it could've been shortened to Lin or something right? I mean I got over it of course but I thought I would let you know that I was unfortunate in not receiving nickname

Oh, my heart goes to you Linda for having no nickname at all! But I guess your name was short enough that your mom is content in calling you by your name. Well, would love to call you Lindy! Sometimes its not too late to have a nickname. And why dont you ask your friends or your siblings call you Lindy or whatever nickname you want from now on? Its never too late dear. Just a suggestion. Others could have their names changed and why not give yourself a nickname for a change? Good luck.

My nickname is Tee-Aye (pronounces T A). I was given this name by my older brother when I was about 11 years old and it has stuck with me ever since. He gave me this name because my favorite cartoon character at the time was the Tasmanian Devil. No, I was never a mean person. The reason I liked this character was because there was this boy I liked, and his name was Ian. Do you get it? The name Ian is in the word Tasmanian! So my brother shortened it to Tee-Aye because the first two letters in Taz are T and A. I can't believe it's been almost 20 years and I still go by that nick name.

Hi Teeaye. Thats a cute name. I guess its far from your real name. But its cute and easy to remember. I guess you should thank your brother as giving you a nickname not so bad means that he loves you. Some people really never get old or out of their nicknames but some do!

I had two nicknames while I was growing up, Thumper because I was always running through the house, and Motor Mouth, because I talked a mile a minute and never shut up lol. My mom gave me both nicknames. Thank god they don't call me those names anymore. Matter of fact I walk so quietly you don't hear me coming. As far as my mouth goes, well I'm still a motor mouth.

My nickname was skeeter growing up. I think it was because I was so tiny back then. My grandma came up with it and everyone else started using it. Now it doesn't fit me though because I am not small like I used to be. I am average in size but still think I am a little to over weight.

Well skeeter is a nice nickname. Altough its quit a bit far from Miller-- if thats your real name. Are you still using it?

I had several nicknames throught my childhood from making fun of my surname to making fun of my writing etc. The name that stuck to me was 'bear' as i had a stupid habit of telling jokes and many of them included bears. IT was not that many but my friends soon noticed that and gave me this nickname.

HI Arjun. Well making those jokes in getting yoru nickname bear i think is not stupid as you just want to make your friends happy I guess and bear is cute. Think of it just as those teddy bears that little children wants to hug every night on bed so you are huggable! lols. Have a nice day!

I got the nickname of Arnie. I don't know who came up with it but it stuck. It actually has nothing to do with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'm pretty sure my sister just randomly called me Arnie one day, and it stayed. My real name is Arnaud (pronounced Are-No). I'm French so, obviously, it's a French name. :P

I am a Chinese. So my nickname has something to do with my English name. When I was a little girl, people called me apple. Because one character of my name sounds like apple. Then my mum change my name for some family reason. People do not called me apple anymore. I had the "mini" nickname once. I am always small, even now.(but it's better) However, people call me "Jinjin" which is a double of one Chinese character of my name. May it not be difficult for you to understand.

My nickname is Jeff because my name is Jeffrey. But i am wishing to have a nickname not related to my name. Just like my brother who is Jerome with a nickname Lom. its just cute. We are given nicks so it will be easier for people to remember just like giving tags to discussions. :)
