Would you help?

Recently i started working for a newspaper and I'm going to do a questionnaire about help given to others so i thought of launching some questions here. I want people to think about what they would to in certain situations. If you saw someone getting beat up would you help? What if he/she was of a different race? What if you knew he/she had different religious beliefs? Would you help if he/she was dressed in a way that would make you say he was part of a certain group of ppl (ex:rocker, homeless etc) ? How often do you help old people cross the street? Do you give your seat to the elderly while on public transport? I don't necessarily want answers to these questions i just want to know how you would help a fellow human, if certain conditions affect your reaction and what you think could be done to improve the situation.

It doesn't matter who they are. I think it is pretty tough to watch another human in distress and not do anything about it? Who's like that? I would also give up my chair, not always to the elderly - but to the person who needed it. An old person would just be an example. People should help people out of instinct I think.

They should but help but survival instinct kicks in I guess, I don' have any other way to explain it. I got beat up just for being a rocker (and i don't hold a grudge honestly) and people came by, saw me getting beat up, and did nothing, actually they did do something, they turned around and went back the other way...Sometimes i have to think that it's a sad world that we live in...

Yeah,I will help those who need my help. But sometimes I just find that there are so many unfair things, I just don't know what to do. Sometimes I even hate those people why they are so powerless.

I would always help. I don't care what ones beliefs are, what a person wears or what race they are, that wouldn't keep me from wanting to help a person. I do give up my seat to the elderly, it is only the right and respectful thing to do..not to mention I would also give up my seat for someone who is injured/handicap..etc. This is a good discusion, it will be interesting to see what other people have to say about this. Have a great day!
