I'll tell you what, the biggest mistake that people make is to "free feed" there dogs. you know just put down the food and let the dog eat. I have been in the animal industry for the past 8 years. What you should do is get their food ready and tell them "breakfast" and put an amount down that they shoukd eat for that time and then for "dinner" put down the rest, and if they dont eat it in ther first 10min. pick it up. dont let them eat past that 10min. If they are not done oh well, they will learn. The worst thing you could do is to let them "free feed" They need to know where thier food comes from and who feeds them otherwise they will take food from ANYBODY.

he is triying to share with you. you ar the adult: you set the time for "breakfast" or "dinner"| and what you say goes.

I wish I knew the answer to this question because both my dogs do the same thing. I think a lot of them do. I have tried all sorts of things, placing the food bowl on a carpet square etc, but they still run around the house with mouthfuls of food looking for a carpet to eat it off.

It could be the food dish is moving around when he tries to eat. I took a small piece of carpet and put under my cats dish. Yes, one of my cats does this too, taks a mouth full of food drops on floor and then eats it. Cleaning up the small carpet is much easier and the food never leace their carpet. Try it! Also feed in same place each time.

There is a place fixed for him to eat but then also he do that. I'll try your technique also.

i had a dog who did that...maybe put his food bowl on a tile floor that can be cleaned easily. or even get the pet a place mat, all my pets had one, where you put their food and water bowls on it, and hopefully if they move their food they will put it on the place mat. even better just put the dog food on the place mat without the bowl. maybe your dog just doesnt like bowls for some reason.
