The county I live in is voting on a smoking ban next week. This bans smoking in any public places. What is your standpoint on this?

I smoke and I dn't hav a problem with not being able to smoke in public places. I do think it is wrong to tell people that they can't smoke in their home, because they have a home business. That truckers can't smoke in their cabs. That is what it is here now. The bars an clubs should be at their own preference. Just my opinion.

I could not agree with you more. I think the decision on whether to be a smoking facility should ultimately be left up to the business. As for bars and clubs it is ridiculous because the majority of people (that I know) smoke when they drink, even if they are not a regular smoker. As for regulating what you do in your own home and car, well that is just BS. I actually quit smoking Jan. 5th for a couple of reasons. Top reason, the increase of taxes on a pack of smokes and the local ban. I don't believe I should be paying more taxes than someone that doesn't smoke, especially when it is them that is telling me where I can and can not smoke! Of course the health reasons were on the list as well. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

My viewpoint is very clear on this which may not be liked by the smokers, but I want the smoking to be banned in all the public places.this is required to save other people from harmful side effects of passive smoking.i know many people may not agree to this.

I don't think they should ban it everywhere. Just in places like resteraunts and where there is kids. But not bars and clubs like that. I quit smoking but that doesn't mean we should take all of the rights away from a smoker.
