This is insane...airplane phobia, wow!

Airplane phobia is simply insane! - I don't know, but just recently I guess I just developed the fear of flying...the symptoms are there...hardness of breathing, palpitations, shaking all over the body. I hope this would go away...for me, this is simply insane because I never had any phobia of flying...it's just that single experience which my have triggered this unfortunate condition...

I have travelled a lot by airplane...in fact, I have gotten used to travelling by plane, to Manila, to Malaysia, to Thailand, etc. Never did I experience any phobia at all. Recently, we went to Manila (the whole family) and I came home alone. I could not understand, but I was shaking when the plane took off. When we're up there I was shaking uncontrollably, and realized that I have probably developed aerophobia, or fear flying on a plane. Looking back, I guess, it could have been triggered by an experience of airpocket for at least 3 hours going to and from Kuala Lumpur...that must be the single experience which has triggered my phobia. Now, I'm not sure if I'd be ok again. I guess my next travel is on May to Manila...I hope my fear would soon disapper, just like before. Any tips from my friends out there would be most welcome. I truly call it insane, but it's happening!

I wish I'd be more relaxed next time I'd travel by plane. Yup, the ear aches, but the phobia is much worse than the ear ache. It's good to know that you miss our country. Visit it one day.

I am so sorry to hear that you have got a airplane phobia. This is understandable and may pass before you fly to Manila. I used to hate flying because I got strong ear pain. I flew from 1987 to 1997 with the pain in my ears. Then a friend gave me a pair of ear planes, plastic screw like things for my ears. Since then I have not had many more pain in my ears. Some I would say a positive experience like that made me keen on flying. I hope that you soon feel as happy as you used to about flying. Good luck.

it sounds insane but sadly it is true. i did have it about six months ago. i had to fly to Beijing for a work conference and i was scared. but as the flight went on and on it went away and it was all thanks to a little boy that was sitting next to me. i was trying to read my book because i was really scared and this kid was pulling really weird faces at me. and as time went on this kid started making me laugh and before i knew it the flight was over and we landed. after i got off the plane i set out to find this kid and his mother to personally thank them for helping me get over my phobia. about 2 weeks later i received a card in the mail from this kid saying dear mr it is ok. i have some problems please help me. so i did. and now that kid is my son me and his mother got married 2 years later
