The Wonders of Nature... Rainbow Droplets

Rainbow Droplets - Raindrops reflecting the colours of the rainbow in the sunlight.

I'm unable still, to go for much of a walk, because of my leg. The cold and damp don't seem to be doing it much good, so I'm waiting for better weather. Yesterday, it pelted down with rain, for about half an hour or so... you know how it is, when you've told somebody it's not raining hard, and it's more like prolonged April showers! Down it came; the sky was black, and the wind got up for a while, lashing the huge drops against my window. So, I snuggled down on my bed and watched the TV for a while. When I got up again, the rain had stopped and the Sun came out. I went over to the window, and was watching two sparrows foraging around in the hedgerow out front of my home. There was a lot of twittering going on, when I noticed some globules of rain water, on the twigs of the hedge, which is still bare from Winter. The droplets of water caught my eye, because they were twinkling in the sun. They looked like a thousand stars in and on the twigs of the hedge. I watched, fascinated for a while, because in the Sun's rays, these droplets, were glistening and at the same time, they were reflecting all the colours of the rainbow, just as faceted diamonds would. It was a beautiful sight indeed. I stood there for some time watching. It was like the two little birds were hopping and fluttering about in a bejewelled hedgerow. I stood in awe of a most beautiful scene, provided by Nature and the Elements. Instead of a rainbow, I had tiny little rainbow drops in my hedgerow. I wonder if that's where the rainbow drop sweets got their name? Do you ever stop and contemplate Nature's wonders? Do you have a story about something you noticed that you've never actually spotted before?

two cities in my country just got hails today. it rained iceballs, to my amazement. it seems like the global warming effects have finally show their 'power'. I have witnessed water 'tornadoes' back then from the 27th floor of an apartment. the sky was black, the birds were thrown and couldn't control their flight. the water just moved in spirals, yes, in spirals, it was very entertaining as a nature's big show time, but I noticed from the trees below ( at the park on the 10th floor below ), the power of the wind was frightening. I'm glad that the nature power didn't break the window. I was too brave to stand near for such freaking 'entertainment'.

Yes, we've been having hail storms, and even snow, at Easter! The weather is all over the place at the moment. Your water tornadoes sound quite terrifying but when you're in a reasonably secure place, it must be fascinating to watch what's going on outdoors and the effects of the tornado. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

First thank you for sharing your feeling and I can imagine how beautiful it is through your article though I don't see it at that time. I can't help thinking of my childhood when I ran over the farmland:As the spring is coming, everything outside is waking up,and I with my friends play games after school, smelling the smell of the earth, hearing the sings of birds, and enjoying the stroke of the winds! How comfortable it is! But unfortunately I haven't felt this feeling for a long time since I go to colleage.

You're welcome,my friend. Oh, I love the seasons; the new growth in spring, the lazy, warm days of summer when all is in full bloom, the colours, and fruits of autumn, and the whiteness and skeleton trees of winter. Autumn is a lovely time to go out in the fields too, when the crops are golden and bending in the wind like golden waves rippling across the countryside, and late spring/early summer when the fields are full of yellow rape, purple linseed flowers and bright, red poppies. Beautiful memories, indeed. I'm sure when you've finished college and you're established in your career, you will again take time to experience the beauty of Nature. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

I responded to this the got that error page cant be displayed then had to call Cable company and they reset my ISP for I couldnt get any where on the net so I dont what reallly went wrong lol any way I watch the bird after it rains here and the fly into the yard abd drink water of the blades of grass or a spot of water that hasnt soaked up. Also ew have wrens in the summer get in the garden and take a dirt bath the wiggle and use their wings to throw the dirt up over themselves just like they would in water. Aslo if I wash off the patio if there is a puddle of water they come down and take water bath and only the wrens do this.

Yes, I remember how you said you'd like to go to the top of the mountains and look down over the plains, just as I like to climb to the top of the hills of the South Downs. It's so peaceful, and gives you a fresh feeling in that you feel in charge of your life. Is that how you feel? xx

Awwwww, yes, I suspect that's what the sparrows might have been doing in the hedgerow. They were enjoying themselves whatever it was, going by the twittering noise. lol. I love to watch the birds, don't you? Brightest Blessings my dear friend. Sorry you had problems with your ISP, but as long as it's ok now. Take care. xxxxx

Thank you... Nature, especially trees are the essence of our lives, to my mind, and the Elements play a big part in Nature. I see them as the second most precious gift we have ever been given. Rainbow drop sweets are chocolate buttons, sometimes white chocolate, sometimes brown, which are sprinkled with hundreds and thousands, in all the colours imaginable. Hence the term rainbow drops, I think. I just wondered if a sight like I saw inspired the making and naming of them. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend.

Oh I LOVE trees too! When I die I want to be cremated and my ashes planted with a baby willow tree (or weeping cherry). You might be on to something with those chocolates! And they sound yummy!!!

I have seen the moon in different colours over my lifetime from dark grey to a bright orange. I supposed it is where it sits in the sky and has a reflection from the earth as the sun is in different places. When I was in Cyprus when clearing the deep snow upto twenty feet thick we could see the different layers of different coloured snow. One of the layers was a reddy colour as the wind must have carried the sand over from the libya desert. Fascinating times they were.

Yes, I do remember the song. It's called "The Light of the Silvery Moon" and was sung by Doris Day amongst many others. Here is the chorus.. lol. By the light of the silvery moon, I want to spoon, to my honey I'll croon love's tune. Honey Moon, keep a-shining in June, Your silvery beams, will bring love dreams, We'll be cuddling soon, By the silvery moon. There are lots of songs about the Moon, some of which I prefer to this one. I'm not sure which to say is my favourite, but I do like Enya's Shepherd Moon.

Yes, the moon often shines different colours. Are you aware of all the names of the various months' moons? I think sometimes, it's how the atmosphere is.. for instance, if it's pale white, or a silvery colour, you will often see a misty ring around it. Similarly, when it's a bright, golden yellow, you will see a golden ring around it. Sand does sometimes get carried in rain and snow, because we had two rainfalls that I remember when the first time, the rain left a black film on windows and cars, and the second time, it left yellow film. This, supposedly was sand from the Sahara Desert, would you believe? Brightest Blessings, my dear friend.

Blood Moon - The Blood Moon, during total eclipse.
Wow... fascinating. I did see Hayley's Comet the last time it was visible and I've seen shooting stars too, but the most memorable thing I saw at night was the total lunar eclipse, last year. The moon turned to a "Blood Moon" and back to silver.. it was awesome. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

Yes I do pal , I love things like that , we have a dual carriageway goes into town not far from our house , we can take other roads but the sides of the roads are awash with gorgeous yellow daffodils at the moment , I go everywhere via that carriageway as they just brighten up my day , I love nature in all shapes and forms , It is such a shame for the people who don't appreciate things like that ,they don't know what they are missing nor the contented feeling such sites give you xx

We have lots of daffodils planted along the verges in the village and surrounding villages. They're lovely aren't they, and seem to increase year by year? I don't think it's so much that a lot of people don't appreciate the sites that Nature gives us, but that they're so busy rushing around making money to live on, that they just don't find the time to walk, and notice these things. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution my dear friend. xxx

Ripples - At times you stand there mesmerized by the beauty of the nature without failing to think of God.This one of those moments.
Last time when I went for my summer vacation to the hills I came across this beautiful brook.I just stood there gazing at the beauty of the water and ripples to the chirping of the early birds.I just wanted to capture the beauty.Pleas look at the magic my flash has done to the ripples.

Wow, that's an awesome pic, my friend. I left a comment on it, whilst looking. It almost looks like a piece of fractured glass, without the hole in the middle, doesn't it? The sun often creates the same sort of effect your flash has. Thank you for sharing that. I like the effects of both the sun, on running brooks and waterfalls, or the sunset or moon across the ocean. I can stand and watch it for hours. Sometimes when I go to the millponds, the fish will come up for insects, causing a ripple, which spreads outwards in ever increasing circles, and which are amazing when the sun catches them. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your beautiful contribution.

Nature - Nothing freshens you better than surrendering yourself to the nature every now and then.
I always believe that the best part to try to understand yourself is to get lost in the serenity of the nature. These are some of those beautiful moments.

I'll be ok, my friend. It gets me down a little that I can't get out but then, the weather is too wet and dull anyway at the moment. There's no fun in wading through mud, and I don't want to be slipping and putting my leg out again. There's one consolation, in that it gives me time to work on my new staff, and when that's complete, I'll have better support and will be less likely to slip on the muddy pathways. Yes, rainbows, and all Nature's wonders seem to give you peace of mind, and self worth. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution.

You're so very welcome, my friend. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we will be rewarded for our patience, as everything balances out in the end. Besides which, as I said to dear Lakota, we need to rest a while, but the waiting will make the eventual climb all the more worthwhile.

The only thing that I love seeing is a Rainbow and it is the only thing that seems to catch my eye every time and every time I see one I will see if it will go all the way round (which is not good when I am driving I have to force myself to forget about the Rainbow) I think I am still trying to figure out if there really is a pot of Gold at the end of it I am pleased to see I am being notified of your Discussions again Oh it was raining here to yesterday Gissi sat at the Window watching it rain

Yes, I love rainbows too. You will never find the end, my friend, no matter how far you travel! lol. Have you ever seen a rainbow circle around the setting sun? It's supposed to warn of bad weather, or so I was told. I saw one last year, which was a first for me. Ah, you're being notified are you? Mylot never contacted me to tell me if they'd done anything but I guess they must have done. Gissi was probably trying to think up a way of getting out of walking in the rain. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxxx

Nothing quite so picturesque as yours, but, the last day or two we go through long, gloomy, heavy days, then just before sunset the sky clears and clear bright sun paths are laid across joining the horizon to me. It is just totall beyond the everyday look of a cloudy day.

Yes, it's very difficult to get good pictures of the sunrise or sunset, with the sun actually in them. Here is one I took of the sunrise over the church on a sunny, snow covered February morning, last year. I love the way the church is in light, whilst all else it still dull.

Oh yes, that's a beautiful sight and one to be marvelled at. My living room window faces west, and beyond my garden, there is a field of sheep, which is skirted by trees, silhouetted against the sky. When there is a beautiful red sunset, parts of the sky turn purple (I think it's the cloudy areas), creating such a wonderful picture. The trees are like a black silhouette against the sunset sky... awesome. The trouble is, I can never get a picture of it whilst the sun is still there. It makes reflective blobs on the resulting picture. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your contribution.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the moment, my friend. I found this one in Yahoo images and considered it to be the closest to the sight I saw. In fact, it's nowhere near as colourful and bright. I was too far away to take a photo of the moment and by the time I got downstairs it would have been gone, so I photographed it in my mind. Brightest Blessings.

Isnt nature such a magical thing? It sounds like a beautiful scene you have described. there is so much beauty in nature. i love it. and its not only what we see, but its what we smell and hear as well. i love to close my eyes and imagine the natural beauty of the forests or waterfalls or the beach. i could go on and on. I love rainbows. when i see one i always imagine that little pot of gold at the end of it. thanks for sharing natures wonders with us. best wishes to you, darkwing, and take care

Yes, I agree, and when you close your eyes and imagine the forests, you can actually smell the wood bark, the moss and the moisture therein. With the sea, or the beach, you can smell the seaweed and salt air, and hear the waves on the beach, and so on. You're on the same wavelength as me, my friend! Brightest Blessings and thank you for your input. xx

That had to look very lovely Dark. If only I could have been there to seen it. Its been while since I've seen something like that. Last time I saw something like this was at least a couple of years back after a summer rain. The sun appeared and mist was in the air causing several examples of rainbows/refracted light.

Thank you Mummymo. I'm not too bad, it's just that uneven ground, and standing too long might jar it or start off the pain again, and it's not worth it. I manage to go down the pub... went down for darts last Wednesday and Karaoke on Friday and as long as I can find a seat, I'm ok. Had fun, in fact. It's just when I sit for a long time, have been in bed, or stand for a long time, it gives me a hard time, but I can cope with my stick. I'm happy to give you a little piece of my world. Sometimes I ponder how lucky we are that we have sight. I don't know how I'd cope without it. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxxxx
