I hate organizing!

I love having things organized but I hate the act of doing it. Well, that's not totally true. I like small projects. But what usually happens is that because I've been too lazy to put things away over a period of time, I end up with this huge mess that needs sorted out. For instance, today I began clearing my home office. I found a folder of financial statements from 2005! Now, those should be with my tax records for 2005. Why aren't they? Who knows? And I'm just clearing the top of the file cabinet at this point. What I've learned makes it more palatable for me is to work at the task just a few minutes at a time. I am less likely to just get overwhelmed and give up. It may take dozens of ten-minute intervals interspersed with something I enjoy, but evenually it gets done. Now if I would just keep it that way! What tasks do you hate? How do you get yourself to do them?

I hate cleaning and organizing. I am not much of a house keeper cause I don't like to do it and my husband makes quite a mess and doesn't clean up after himself. Then he complains about what a mess the house is, go figure!

Oh, yeah. The belief is that it is a woman's place to pick up after her man. They don't grow up, usually, learning any other lesson about self responsibility. I often wonder if they are as messy at work as they are at home. But, then, I suppose that is what a secretary is expected to do.

I am a GREAT organizer! But, I also get lazy and don't put things away. I once had this BEAUTIFUL system set up in my file cabinet. All of the folders were color coding, labeled, etc. I didn't put anything in there ever, so it piled up outside the cabinet, but the folders looked great! I was following flylady.net and it worked great! I definitely need to get back to doing that again.

I'm like you! I like to be organised and have everything in the right place but I let things pile up then have to sort them and organise a place for them. I needed a folder a few months ago and they were all in use so I re-organised them. Now, I'm looking for some info on my Dad so my daughter can do our family tree and do you think I can find it??? Nope! For years I knew exactly where it was and now I have turned things in the office upside down, making a mess, but this article alludes me....and I basically have to start again with a clean up. Sheesh!

Eureka! I found it! However, when my daughter visited, did I remember to show it to her??? Nope! Thanks for BR too. Cheers!

lol you sound just like me i'd say. i love organised things but hate doing it. i'd take at least three to four attempt to organise my study table. but it'll be messy within weeks, if not days. i guess it's pretty overwhelming seeing our life summarised by these statements and papers. i also start reading all those statements and forget about the time. this reminds me, guess i'll need to clear up my study table again. tomorrow sounds like a good time, if there ever is a good time.

So, did you? I recycle more than I keep. But there are still little stacks of them!

well i've just woken up. weekends are a good time for me to catch up on some sleep. i'll be going to the hospital to pick up my mother. then maybe i'll settle down and start packing my study table. same like you, i try to recycle as much as i can. most of my bills are recycled as i keep a budget of some sort. i'll take down the amount and payment date in my budget. that reduces the clutter by quite a bit. cheers ;p

How can you hate organizing it is a way of making your life go smoothly like having a college plan since you are in middle school it makes looking for a College easier and brings less stress. Or if you don't know what you are doing for the next weekend, organizing can help you do your school work while planning for an event. If by hating organizing I am assuming that you hate being tidy and I would like to tell you that if you are organized it can help you in feeling satisfied when you are complete your work. Being organized can help in business partners thinking of you as mature

What I hate is the process of GETTING organized. I spend so much time doing lots of things and in a hurry and things don't always get put away. It seems that the older I get the more scattered I become!

I have a habit of putting stuff up as well. The most important one is putting the bills where they belong. I try to keep them all on the computer desk so I know where they are and they end up getting put on the file cabinet, in my bedroom on the dresser, and on the computer desk. I am one of these type that freak out when a payment is late and still have not corrected myself into putting them where they belong. I also try to use envelopes for pay stubs but apparently I am the only one around here without broken arms, everyone else just throws them where ever they land. So that takes up more time as well.

Thankfully I'm only responsible for my own messes these days. I keep my bills and my checkbook at the table where I open my mail. I don't have to worry about "putting them away" where I can't find them. Of course, that makes a stack on the table. But, oh well, what's another stack or two? :-)
