Are You Going On Holiday This Year?, If So When & Where Are You Going?

I cannot believe it is only 8 weeks until we go on our first and probably only holiday of the year, I am so excited and really ready for a break away from it all! We have booked a caravan on a Haven campsite in UK, so we are not going far! We are going to a place called Blackpool, it is by the seaside and is just totally a proper touristy place! I will eat nothing but junk food all week and will not have to do any cooking as we just eat out all the time, it is so relaxing. We love getting to the caravan to see which type we have got and how nice it is as we have a different one each time. I just hope the weather is better than it was last year as it rained for the whole week!! So has anyone else booked a holiday yet, or made any holiday plans? If so where are you going to? How long are you going for?

I normally just get up and go when the fancy takes me. I like to go to the West Country and Yorkshire, and I also like visiting some of the ancient sites we have dotted around our country. However, I do have one short break of four days, booked, when I will be going to Lowestoft. It will be my first visit to Suffolk. I've been to Norfolk, and all around, but I've never visited Suffolk. I would like, if I can, to take at least one trip onto the Broads, and there are a few ancient sites I would like to see there. I hope you have good weather for your holiday in Blackpool too. It's normally pretty good at that time, but with the way the weather pattern has been for the past year or so, you never know what to expect. Brightest Blessings for a fun holiday.

Yes, I love Yorkshire too. My brother and sister-in-law lived up there. They're divorced now but she is still there, with the two girls, and I often go visit. Lol at your Grandma with the bat. She wants to live round here; there are tons of them! I hope too, that you get a good week. The weather is supposed to improve now, so hopefully it will go on through May, June, July, August and even September.

Me and my hubby love Yorkshire, we have been to Scarborough for the last 2 years and it is beautiful there. I went to norfolk as a child, the memory of that is my lovely little grandma running across the grass with her walking stick because she had seen a bat and was petrified it was going to tangle in her hair ha ha. I do hope we get a bit of nice weather, I remember last year at that time it rained solid all week, the kids were off school and we could not do anything, I do not mind the rain but I do not fancy strolling up and down Blackpool front in it!!

We managed to get away for a weekend about a month or so ago when my sister got some back pay. It was nice. We went to Universal Studios. Thankfully we were able to rent carts there and they weren't overly crowded. It also helped we went off season. It was just nice getting away even if I couldn't go on many of the rides. My niece had a ball though. She really enjoyed the place. We got a really good deal on the tickets, we got the year ones for the price of two days so if we get more money we can go back again. (Not going to hold my breath on more money but nice to dream right?) We hadn't gone away in over 3 years and just having a few days away from the rest of the family (our family is all within a few miles of each other), the house and the pets was a nice break. It really helped to recharge us.

Universal studios is great. Far better then going to Disney World (They are in the same town). I would highly recommend it. I really enjoyed the time there, the staff was great, and of course the characters were fantastic. We had food at Bubba Gumps (Think of Forrest Gump) and the food was out of this world. It wasn't cheap but it was well worth it. I'd go over there just to eat there again

Another place I would just love to go to! Short breaks are great for recharging, I wish we could have more little breaks in between but it sometimes costs just as much than for a full week!

I haven't had a vacation in a very long time and haven't gone anywhere for years. I didn't think I would be going anywhere this year either but I just found out that a bunch of my family is planting on renting a van going to Florida at the End of May to see Walt Disney World, among other things. I really can't afford it, and have no desire to go to Disney World, but I have decided to tag along, for just something to do and to get away from this place and my life for a while. I hope you enjoy your vacation.

Yeah it is rather expensive. It's like $70 a day per person just to get in the theme park. I grew up in California, so I went to Disneyland a lot a child. Disney World doesn't really hold much sway for me, but hopefully I will enjoy myself. Really, I just want to get away and this seems like a good oppertunity.

Oh you are a lucky thing, I would love to be going to disneyland! We keep saying we will go next year and then it comes around and we cannot afford so we say ok next year, but next year never comes! I have four children and so it would cost us a fortune that we just do not have.

yes Wiltshire is a nice place..have you or anyone ever been to visit there?...the scenery is quite spectacular...then theres Longleat house...we just lived a couple of miles away from there...the lions of longleat....lots of lovely churches....little villages.... But i think if you have kids it may be better to take them where theres entertainment....that way they dont keep annoying you!!! The nearest thing re holdays to where we lived was a Centre Parcs....apparently they are good..but they are very expensive!!

I don't see myself going on a vacation soon. I have to attend summer advancement classes if I want to graduate college before I turn 21. And then I'll be overloading on my units come regular semester. *sigh*

Wow! How exciting and I envy you right now as no way I can take a vacation now. mine would have to wait till October at least. The past six months have been very hectic to say the least and mentally I am totally burnt out. I need a break but am hopelessly out of reserves for it. My son’s new session starts mid-April so that’s quite an expenditure. But I am saving every penny and by October we should have enough in the kitty. And then my hubby has to plan his leave at office too, so a notice beforehand really helps. We are planning to go to the south-Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and see Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam and also the ecological park of Araku Valley. If we can pull it off, it will be an interesting medley of historical places, seaside and forest. Let’s see…

We have been saving for this one for a year!! I am struggling to get the last bit of spending money together with the price of everything going up but I am hopeful that with a few more cut backs we can scrape it together. Your trip sounds fantastic, I love anything historical, but we are saving all the historical things for when the kids get a bit older, we would all love to go to Egypt. I am sure you will pull it off and when you do I would love to hear about it!!

We are going to a wedding in June this year. We are going to use it for a vacation. It will be in the Benton Harbor/Caloma, Michigan. I finally get to swim in Lake Michigan. It is going to be so much fun on the private beach.

That sounds beautiful, not sure what the weather will be like for us, but not sure if it will be warm enough to swim in the sea! No private beach either. I bet you will have a lovely time.

My partner and I usually throw our camping gear into the car and take off where we fancy for a few days, in the past we have either gone to Cornwall and the West Country in the UK, or we will book a very cheap B & B in Whitby for the Goth Fest in the Autumn. But this year it looks highly unlikely we will be able to do much for a holiday other than maybe a couple of odd weekends away with the tent.

Now that sounds like something my son would love to do - camping by the seaside :) We are off to Rarotonga (Cook Islands) for my sister in laws wedding April 20th for 6 days. It's sun, beach, sand, homemade cooking from my mother in law (yummy) and relaxation too. It might be stressful a few days before hand but since my sister in law has it all under control, I'm going to make the most of our quick holiday. We also will be meeting for the first time our nephew Micah who was born in February in Australia :)

That sounds lovely, we are only going for 7 days, so short but oh so sweet I hope! I am not sure if we will be able to afford to get away again later in the year as we are having our garden done so I am going to make the most of it. It will be fish and chips all week for me, seaside resorts in UK do fantastic fish and chips and because they are by the sea the fish is always huge and massive. You get huge portions that I can not possibly eat by myself and so I usually get one for me and my daughter to share otherwise I have to have childrens portions he he. It is just an excuse for me to pig myself for a week and not feel guilty, the last two holidays I have been on I have been ill and not able to eat,and came back off holiday lighter than when I went! so fingers crossed this time I will be in full health and able to eat loads.

Wow you lucky thing, I am envious can't even remember the last holiday I went on. That is really shocking of me, I need to book a holiday or save some pennies for one first. No I have not booked a holiday yet as you know have little baby, maybe at the end of the year in summer time might be a good time to go on holidays then with the kids. Have a great time on your holiday, enjoy the junk food while you can, plus most of all enjoy kicking back and no cooking.

My Hubby is lucky in that where he works gives them most of the kids school holidays off, so it is pretty flexible for us to have a holiday anytime the kids are off, but it is always dearer to go away when they are off.

Hi Gemini_rose, I hope you have a great time on holiday! I too am lucky enough to be able to get away from it all soon. It's been a tough 12 months, and I'm really looking forward to just being able to chill for a few days. I'm off on the 9th April until the 16th...short break, but I can go again later in the year, as my mum owns the caravan. It's also near Blackpool, and I love visiting there. I've been just about every year since childhood! lol

Thats great! We were looking into investing in a caravan, but we would want one in Scarborough as that is our absolute favourite place, but it is just a bit too far out of the way to pop to every weekend!! We have not been to Blackpool for quite a few years and so we are all pretty excited!

I am thinking of going on a vacation to Hong Kong and Macau in June, or perhaps Melbourne, Australia later part of the year. I haven't made up my mind yet nor did any booking of flights and hotel rooms. I have not been to Macau before and my last trip to Hong Kong was nearly 8 years ago, so it may be a good time to see how the place has changed since my last visit. Usually my holidays are anything from 8 to 14 days, depending on the location and how much I can afford to spend.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to take a vacation this year since I still had some debt left to pay off. I've got most of it paid now, so I booked an 8-day singles cruise to the Caribbean in October. It leaves from Tampa and will visit the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan Island (Honduras.) I've been to all the ports except Cozumel on previous cruises.
