Who's in the reserves (Army/Navy etc)

Tell me about your experiences. I'm thinking of joining.
Do you like it? What's it like? If you had to do over again would you still join? What are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks

My husband is in the USMC Reserves. I know he likes it and hates it, but he'd definitely rather be active duty (which he's changing to next year). He doesn't regret joining at all. He doesn't like it because half of the things they do there are pointless (lots of sitting around), and he's only supposed to be there Saturday & Sunday, yet his "usual" drill includes Friday-Sunday, sometimes even Thursday. The things he likes about it is being able to be in the military while going to school/having a family, and making some extra income on his drill weekends. They also have 2 events each year where your family can go with you: family day & birthday ball. Also, with the Reserves, they send you away in the summer on a 2 week training.
