Does sibling rivalry ever end?

Do you think it's normal for siblings to fight all the way into adulthood and never be able to get along? My sister and I seem to be this way. I know a lot of siblings that get along, so maybe it's just us?

Yes it's normal. And i dont think that it ends although it may not be as intense as it was when you where younger. My younger sister and i continue our rivalry even to today, although i must admit that i'v instigated some of the issues.I'm fortunate though because we are close despite our differences. After all she,s the only sister that i have and that makes her more bearable.

It's nice to know that some siblings are able to get along, despite the fact that it is impossible for me and my sister. Thank you for your response!

I guess it is difficult to define 'normal' when it comes to families and the dynamics within. My younger sister and I still don't get on as adults and if anything I think the division is worse now we are older. I know people who get on really well with their siblings and those who can't stand the sight of each other. I guess it depends largely on the personalities as I have often said I would never choose my sister as a friend because we have such different views and values.

i think sometimes that end in childhood. but still there are few who are rivals all through the life. it depends on the nature of the person.some can't get over it a sthey take it too seriously.
