Why Do They Do This?

So I still have the back pain, and my mother in law makes it out to be worse by saying I probably have a kidney infection or that I probably have problems with my bladder, and that perhaps I have a virus. WTF?!! I told her I'm fine, the pain was due to back strain caused by dancing, (yes I dance as exercise) and she said to me that no one can get back strain by dancing. Yeah...ok. Well this has happend before. Anyway, then I told my own mother and she said "ohh stop pretending to be in pain". She saw me on Sunday and I WAS IN PAIN, so much I could not even walk straight. How can one fake that?! I hate this pain but all I can do is just rest. Why do they do this? Everytime something happens one dreads the worst and my mother thinks I'm faking. GRRRRRRR

I know how you feel.My classmates thought that I was faking my limp. They don't know that I'm suffering from a long-term paralysis. It's good that I don't see them anymore and have new and better classmates.

Well I think she thinks you’re faking coz she loves you and wouldn’t want to believe that anything has actually happened to you. It may sound funny, but even I do it to my son. Everytime he tells me that he has hurt himself somewhere, I take a look at it and then say Oh! its nothing. It infuriates him, just like you, but I know that I never want to see something serious happening to him.

Some times mussle pain may gives a lot of trouble. While dancing due to fast practice or by wrong movements might be the cause of pain. Chances are there. Take rest and it will ease your pain. Your mother and mother-in-law views can be taken up positively and ignore if they are wrong.

Morning Rockvixen! A Dancer heh! Now don't overstrain yourself..muscles can be tricky..have you tried yoga for flexing those muscles? Sometimes its your body saying you need to do something different to relax and of course it sounds like you have stress with a mother and MIL butting into your life and adding negativity. I'm a Mom and grandma and I'm alawys there for my children but i would never hurt them by telling them what to do, but help and try to fix the problem..Think positive today and try to relax and huggs!

i think this is the nature of some people. i have seen few people who only can think of their pain. they think all others are faking it. when they are in slightest of pain, they act like they are dying from it. when you are really dying from pain, they think you are kidding. they are self centred narrow minded persons. It irritates me also.

Well it sounds like you have a pretty nice mother in law,she just seems to be concerned....It also sounds like your Mom thinks your not hurting much and need to suck it up,which i would not like her answer at all....ONE IS CONCERNED THE OTHER IN DENIAL...What to do? Just keep it to yourself ,that way you won;t be stressed..I am sure both of them are concerned but are taking different views...if your mother in law said what your Mom said you would be really angry,so she has to act concerned, but you Mom is your mom and she will always be your Mom,she can get away with murder....but mother in law can't...so if you think it is your dancing ?,and you can strain your back by dancing by the way,so just realx a few days and add ice packs to your back it will bring the swelling down in your muscles......

I know how annoying this can be. Not only is it annoying it is very frustrating. I know what you are going through. I have been suffering with a back injury for the last 2 years. Last week my parents went into see my Granny and she said that I was lieing. Why would I lie for 2 years? Why am I not able to work? Why do I cry myself to sleep? Why am I constantly going to doctors and seeing a surgeon? All these questions she couldn't answer. She says that it is all in my head. I have a rare condition with my spine called "spondylolthesis". It is inherited by someone in my family. I never knew I had this until I was in the car accident. My folks asked Granny who Dad's real father was and she said that he is in the grave and we don't need to know. I know that I don't have this condition from my mom's side of the family. They have all been tested. And I thank them for getting tested. It only leaves my dad's side of the family but they are uncooperating and they say that I am lying and it's all in my head. Don't let them get to you. That's the worst thing that you can do and it will bring you down. Take the much needed rest that you need. Do not use ice. Use heat. Warm baths, heating pads and hot water bottles. It will help relax the muscles. Hope this helps you and good luck on getting better.
