Ok so today is my last day at work. They didn't do the right thing and give us two weeks notice, just one, but at least I get my accrued holiday pay and this weeks pay. Not going on social security as I just want another job immediately, so I am going to go hard at it looking for more work. Any suggestions?

Hello signum oh it can be a worry when you are made redundant, I was over 10 years ago but i had worked for the same company for quite a few years so i did come out of it rather well but i know that is not the case for everyone. There were many of us whom were made redundant at the same time as i was and I can honestly say it was a life changing experience for every single one of us, mostly for the better, so it can be a case of one door shutting and a another one opening, it is definately a new fork in the road type thing, I hope everything works out for you and i hope you get a better job which is what happened to nearly everyone in my case...

Ok so I applied for welfare yesterday just to keep me going till I get another job as I cannot live on nothing. I really do not like welfare and hate that it's not really my money, but without it I cannot afford the bills and rent etc. I had a job interview last week and started yesterday, but it was commission only, so while I may earn $500 one week, the following few weeks I may earn nothing. I need a steady income, and really wish they had made that clear in the interview. Needless to say, I walked out half way through the day after telling the boss it just was not for me. He did, however, say that if I change my mind, to come and see him again. I did think that the interview was a little strange, seems like they were trying to sell the job to me, not me trying to sell myself to an employer. It was most definitely the weirdest interview I have ever attended. So back to the job hunting I go, and remind me to check if the next interview have proper wages etc.

I am really sorry that you have been given a pink slip. These are hard times and more and more people are getting pink slips and i am really liking this that you want to earn and not be a parasite on the government. But they did atleast gave you your holiday pay. I hope you get a real good job very soon.
