Have you taught your dog any tricks?

My Pepper had to be put to sleep many years ago due to cancer. I had 17 wonderful years with my best friend. One of the tricks she was taught was to bring me my shoes or slippers. Everytime she wanted to go outside, she would bring me my shoes or slippers, and out we would go. This was one of the tricks I taught her. Another trick my husband taught her was to sniff out a gun on a person, and let us know where the person carried it. We lived in a bad area, and because of my job, I had large amounts of money in the office the first week of every month. I always knew when someone came to the office carrying a weapon. She was a very smart Lab/Shepard mix, and learned quickly.

My little dog knows just a few tricks - turning in circles for a treat, bringing his leash for a walk and I'm working on roll-over. It's taking awhile even with incentives. He is really hard to train to do tricks since he is a really stubborn little dog. Your dog was a wonder - and seventeen years is a ripe old age for a large dog too.
