i was watching oprah the other day and the topic was puppy mills. a puppy mill ia a dog factory. the dogs in these mills are not pets but commodities, money makers only. i was just wondering what other people think of such places.

I think we watched the same program. I have known about these for a while. I think it is sad. I think it is disgusting. Most people cannot treat each other well. So i suppose it shouldn't surprise me how these mill owners treat animals. Shame on them. This is why I get my dog from Humane Society. My mother usually retrieves her pets from animal rescue Associations as well.

Puppy mills are vile places. They cater to a naive and gullible market - people wanting the cutest new cross-bred whatever Shih-tzu maltese, pugalier, whatever - they are cross breds or mongrels, and people get uscked into paying near top dollar for them! If people want a dog that isn't a purebred dog with papers, they should buy a dog from an animal welfare place, and save a life, or from a giveaway made a mistake litter. Every puppy bought from a puppy mill via a pet store, is more dollars in the pocket of a puppy mill. While people continue to buy these pups, they will continue to be churned out like sausages from a sausage factory. Is PETA doing anything about these horrible places? Or are they spending their time getting stuck into people who are breeding dogs ethically. There are far too many animals in this world, and ethical dog breeders think long and hard before they mate their dogs. I know I do. Don't buy a dog from a place if you don't know where it came from.
