Well... in a way. I'm 25 years old and me and my husband finally moved out of his parents house after we were living there for 5 months (right after we got married). Before that we both lived with our parents and haven't lived on our own EVER. And just yesterday we had the chance to move into my parents unoccupied apartment, YAAAY!! I know.. maybe some of you are thinking "wow.. those 2 are pathetic". But here it's not unusual for a person or even a married couple to stay with their parents for years and years until their like 30 or even forever. Usually it's because we tend to take care of our parents on our own and people rarely send their parents to a home for old people (what was it called again?). But not all are like that. What about you? when did you move out?

Your situation is also the same here in the Philippines. I got married last year, I only moved out of my parents house a few weeks after that, but had to move in a couple of months later as my husband had to stay overseas for a few months. Eight months after our wedding we finally moved in to our new home :)

I understand that circumstances and customs dictate the path you follow. I was actually 21 when I left my home. My husband and I married when I was 20, but he was overseas in the military for a short term of duty and I couldn't join him until he returned to the states. You will love being on your own with your husband. It will give you a chance to form the bonds that make a good marriage and family of your own. Being on your own and making your own decisions gives you the feeling of being independent and grown up. I do admire your custom of caring for elderly parents in your country. So many of our families are spread across the country, that most seniors here end up in retirement homes or assisted care living facilities. God Bless you both and may you have a very happy life together!

Thank you. I do feel like I'm bonding more with my husband. We have the chance to get to know more of how each of us think and act without the influence of our parents and it does force us to think better for ourselves now that nobody is around to help out. I am enjoying our independent life :)
