What's the most popular type of music in your country?

I live in the U.S. and I've always been curious as to what types of music are popular in other countries. Music seems to be one thing that can bring everyone together, we all like a good song.
Here in the U.S. I'd have to say that the most popular is rap/hip-hop and alternative rock.
What type is the most popular in your country, and what are some artists/bands that you listen to?

i'm from indonesia..
although not everyone like this music, the most popular music in my country is dangdut. Dangdut is originality come from indonesia, I bet that there is no country in the world have this kind of music. Little bit similar to india traditional music. Have you ever hear dangdut?
