Are there places that will help pay for your high utility bills during the summer? I thought I saw once were the United way helped low income families.

I don't know if there are places that help but most utilities allow you to pay a flat rate each month so it doesn't fluxuate in the summer or winter, for instance my electric bill is $65/month all year long, no matter if I have the heat on all day or not at all.

How does this work? Do you tell the electric company what your willing to pay each month, or do they tell you what it would be each month? I have been thinking of doing this, just didn't know if it would be worth it.

Sometimes the Salvation Army helps low income families. Also, if there is a medical issue, your energy company may have special rates, and sometimes some companies have low income rates if you qualify.
