Pride is a good thing when you accomplish things. Pride is a bad thing when you act or think that you are better than others. Say you overcame something you were terrified of.... that is a good reason to be proud. You can be proud to be a citizen of your country or state. You can be proud that you did a good job. These are good things. However, if you do this and hold it over the heads of others, making fun of them, looking down on them, that is a bad thing.

Oh, and you can also be proud to know someone because they enhanced your life.

Hi sweetie. Well, that is an interesting question. Is it an issue where one person is proud to be in the relationship and one doesn't seem to care one way or the other. Or where it's more personal, relating to each individuals needs? Sometimes pride and respect are confused. With either, if one doesn't have it for themselves, how can they have it for others? There again, sometimes it's simply a matter of priorities being different. If one person doesn't repect the other it becomes a situation where one is taken advantage of. A person may put up this for a while, but eventually they become angry, bitter, and may even doubt themselves. Dare I ask, can you explain the situation? See, there was a time I didn't care. I was told by my adoptive parents how stupid, useless, and, we'll just say unattractive, I was. Over time I actually believed this. I actually thought I was here to make people miserable. I even tried to take my life. I didn't want to cause misery or be in misery all the time. I of course now realize it wasn't me messed up, it was them. Long story. What I am saying is sometimes it boils down to a deep seated issue. Will you tell me more? I'd be happy to listen.
