What does the Goodyear Blimp do?

I just saw the Goodyear blimp floating around yesterday, and I was just wondering if anyone knew what it really did. Does it just float around, or is it's purpose just to advertise Goodyear and provide occasional video?

some of them show pictures too.we used to have one that came around in summer that had a light display on the sides.moveable cartoons for the most part.

i hadn't seen them in awhile-i'm not sure the lighted ones are still running-but they'd come by for the cup races with those,they were cool to watch.
