How many of you would take in a homeless person or kids?

In one of my discussions it was brought to my attention that people would take in stray animals before they would take in a person. The person called me a hypocrite because I took in three abandon dogs. Little did this person know that for over the last 10 years I have also took in kids and adults that didn't have homes. It has mostly been troubled kids that were friends with my kids, but I think the thought is the same, keeping someone from actually being homeless. Wrong or right, don't matter, I have taken in my exs after someone put them out, so my boys would know that thier dad's where not living on the streets. I took in one girl when she was 12 because her mom as on drugs big time and then called child protective services because the mom wouldn't even help me just put her into school. She ended up being moved to her dad's, running away, back with mom and now 5 years later, she is back with me because this is the only home that she actually feels like she is at home, as for her mom, she is living in a van at the grandparents house. I had my son's one friend living here after his family broke up after his dad passed away. He has turn 18 and is in school for multi-media now. I have had a few girlfriends live here also because of the abuse they lived in also. I have taken in one of those girls' mom because of her health not being good and she has moved because she is better now. I am not saying this for praise, or for a pat on the back, but I am wondering how many people would help others that were homeless. How many would take people into their homes and go that extra mile if someone needed it. Thanks for your responces.

I love stray animals too but I would indeed prefer to help someone. As a matter of fact this young lady is pregnant and I want to help her even though peopel are warning me to leave her alone. She needs the help and I think I am going to do it under the quiet so that her family who rejects her will not know. I dont really care though as long as I make a big difference is someone's life - like hers. Am I being silly?

Ok, first, how are you going to help her is the first question. I hope that you can understand that you have to be careful when taking in someone into your home. You are not being silly.

All I can say is that the person who judged you like this was out-of-line. This was probably someone who thought that putting you down would elevate himself/herself. Non-human animals need help, too. Some people might be better dealing with the furry kind than the two-legged kind, and neither person is better than the other. It seems to me that you're good at taking in and caring for both. Don't worry about people like this. They're just showing their ignorance.

yes I take in homeless cats, and I have taken in homeless boys, my son always found them and they came home with us until they were on their feet and had another place to stay, I also took in a homeless woman three years ago she stayed with us for 4 months until she found another place to live in her own apartment.

That is So nice of you. It takes special people to take in people until they can get on their feet. It is not the easiest thing to do.
