Do You Turn The Channel---

When you don't like a storyline, character, or couple on the show? Just how good a fan are you? To me if you change channels or tune out during a particular story line or 'coupledom' than how can you consider yourself a General Hospital fan??? How will you know if you actually could like that couple or character or particular story, if you don't give it a chance?? I have been a GH fan for almost 40 years and have rarely missed an episode. There have been some wonderful, joyful as well as heartbreaking episodes through the years, but always they leave me wanting more. Mostly I like the pairings in which both partners have lot's of family and history with the show. I have lived through my fav charaters being forced to be with other people: Laura/Stefan comes to mind namely as I was a true Luke and Laura fan. Never thought I would like Luke and Tracy, but honestly they are 'growing' on me. Sometimes it is hard to watch, but I always keep watching. I feel if I miss some storylines, I have missed a huge chunk of GH history. Yes some is boring, but it also depends on how you look at the whole story. If you tune out waiting for something to happen that never does, it just does not make sense to me. Might as well stop watching altogether...Just the way I see it anyways. How do YOU see it???

I have watched GH for more than 30 years. Off and on between kids and jobs I would always come back. GH is the one I always watch when I can. I also like OLTL but I have never really gotten into AMC. I am not an Erica fan so I dont usually pay much attention. GH is the one if I had to choose would be it. I loved Luke and Laura and Robert and Anna. I even liked the storyline about freezing Port Charles. I do miss Lila. She had so much class. Tracy seems to be more interesting since she married Luke. I thought it was an odd pair but it seems to work. I don't think true love between Jason and Liz will last ( can't have happy couples on a soap, right?) I guess since summer is fast approaching the story lines will be geared to hook the kids and people out of school now...

Thanks so much for weighing in Jill. Yep, I dunno what it is about GH. When I was pregnant with my first born, I watched every soap going, especially the ABC ones. Got a little time consuming, it did trying to keep up with them all so I made the choice to cut down to one for my own sanity, which is still questionable at times, lol! Yep, May sweeps starts on GH in about another week or 2, hope it is more interesting than Feb sweeps and then in the summer, I hear the kids are all going to camp this year and coming back 'older' lol yep, maybe even GH is tired of the teen storylines, but I have a feeling we will see a Liason wedding for Novemeber sweeps, it will take them that long to get over the upcoming angst that is gonna be rough, to say the least. As far as we know, we have Liason until the end of Steve's contract which is in about 17 months. He is giving some fans the impression that he won't be re-signing after that. OH NO! Enjoy it while it lasts!

I like Jason and I sure hope he doesn't leave the show! Good grief, he is one of the main "holders" of the show! Every storyline he is in is good and strong and he pulls everything to gether. GOod grief, let Sonny go! OR anyone else, but for heaven sake KEEP Steve!!! I think that will be a very bad move for him - hard for actors to be placed elsewhere when they have such a fan base as another character. And what a hit GH will take if it happens!

I agree with you there coffeebreak. Believe me, I really don't want to see Steve go either. We'll see what happens with Sonny (Maurice's) contracts as well as Jax (Ingo). They are up first for renewal. I have got a bad feeling though, from other Liason fans who have been to Steve's last couple of PA's. He says he drives 3 hours hours to work and home each day, and it is starting to take a toll on him. That is why he films scenes way in advance sometimes and is taking miore frequent holidays. At least so far, it hasn't been that noticeable, because he has a very long work day and films alot of extra scenes when he knows he has time off coming up....

I watch every episode I don't change the channel if I don't like some thing. I am guilty of tunning out if some thing isn't of my great intrest. I have been watching GH since as long as I can remember. For the past 10 years I know it has been on and off because of various reasons. But I have been pretty faithful not missing any in the past year or two.

I hear ya ebsharer. I have been doing screencaps for the past few years, and that is one reason why I can't tune out completely. Not that I would ever want to. These characters are indeed my second family, lol. If something looses my interrest for a moment or two, I am usually found busy loading my 'must have' snapshots to fotki storage albums--www.public.fotki.com/laurieluvsliason Often times there are fewer screencaps of couples or stories I am not terribly fond of, I am the first to admit that as snapping their pics seems to 'engrave' it into my memory and well, we all are human and have our likes and dislikes of course. Some days are definately more boring than others. I guess our fav characters do need some time off after all, but on a daily basis I seem to get anywhere from 100-400 caps. A little telling, I am afraid of how interesting I thought that particular episode was. tee hee What amazes me, totally, I guess I should mention, maybe because I am known as a huge Liason fan around the boards, but the hits and views on my fotki double and sometimes triple for each and every Liason day!

I change the channel and thats my right. I'm sorry I haven't been a fan for 40 yrs like Liasonfan but I haven't even been alive for 40 yrs either. Some of the storylines on GH lately have been down right terrible the past few months. The mob storyline especially if I wanted to see that i would watch the Godfather . And your right you should stop watching and it seem like that exactly what people are doing last week was an all time low in ratings, now wasn't it. And that's just the way I see it.

Check out the ratings as compared to other soaps. We are not really doing all that badly, or so says TPTB. It is all relevant and if they are not worried, neither shall I. I am so sorry you are feeling this way, [b]jasamlila[b]. In the past I found jasam fans excellent adversaries in the rant and debate department. I love a rational, coherent, facts straight discussion. In fact, all through the Liason 'dark years' 2003-2005, I found reasons to argue, rant, defend and debate my couple with all fanbases other than my own. It can be exhilarating to say the least and upsetting too, to see Jason and Sam fans dropping out of the race, resigning themselves to current storylines or plain and simply tuning out.If we had done that, there would be no discussion, no Liason, in fact. But yep, it is your right to change channels, tune out, ignore the stories that are being presented. The real proof will be in the daytime emmies in another month, who will win what, if anything? And something that isn't talked about alot is actor popularity. Currently, Guza and Frons and Phelps all of GH TPTB in fact say that Steve and Becky (Jason and Elizabeth) receive the MOST fanmail of any of the actors/actresses currently on canvas. That is something the fans control, which in turn controls front-burner storylines. And that's the way I see it.

If fans contol it then Jason and Liz would ever be together they're the worst couple in daytime television. They have no chemistry. He has more chemistry with Claudia that he does with Liz almighty. I understand that your favorite couple but they just don't do anything for. But this is just me I'm only 27 and my grams got me hooked a few years ago. Now i never going to be able to watch going back to work full time. Suck For Me.

Again I am sorry, yes it does suck for you. Hey we have something in common though. My grandmother and I also used to watch it together, way back when. I still miss her input since she passed away. Seems to me however that you still do not fully comprehend the vastness of the Liason fanbase. I personally have done but a 'drop in the bucket' worth of campaigning for my couple, I am ashamed to admit, but cheer on with great enthusiasm those who do. Many of whoom have made it their life's mission to see this couple reunite. Extremes I tell you---so much more than a fictional couple on a daytime drama really deserve. Chemistry and appeal is definately in the eye of the beholder, and I am so appreciative there are soooo many who do see it and do act on it.
