How do you remove a tick?

With spring already here, my kids and dogs have had ticks on them. I've had some experience in removing them once they've embedded themselves, which can happen very quickly. I'm interested in what methods you use.

Its better to use Frontline on your dogs and spray some pyremetrin mix on your lawn and grass to kill and keep them away. Cutting your lawn grass really short would also help a lot.

I've only experienced this with my dog, and I do it old school. I use my dog's tweezers and remove them. Now, my dog don't get ticks, since I use flea/tick powder, flea collar, and I don't let her near other dogs that I know have them.
