During my studies at Punjab University, I started my career as a freelance web designer and developer. I jined few freelance websites like getafreelancer.com, admiz.com etc in a ope to get some work from there. But soon I realized that it wasnt' that easy to earn projects. Competition was immense and to get work every freelancer there was just bidding too low. I was not getting any project so I scaled down my rates, re-write my profile, collect some samples of my work, develop project propsals, time line charts nad demos etc. It was a long and tiring process but finally I succeed to get some projects, altough all were of small projects. I was gettng projects but wasn't paid enough. It was inhuman but I had no choice. I needed work and hese freelance websites seem to be the only way to reach the webmasters. Incidentally i came across to a webmaster forum. Someone there needed a small content development job. i offered my service and he just gave it me. The client treated me at equal level and everything went very smooth. This event opened a new door of opportunities for me. since than, I'm an active member of few forums and very happy the way it works. Forums are great place to find freelance jobs because 1- They are copletely free and there in no third party commission involved 2-They are very much alive and interactive. You don't have to wait for project deadlines. 3- Work is enough 4- Rates are good and mostly fixed 5- Forums usually have itrading system, that gives you an idea about a person's and projects credibility. So if you are tired of bidding low and waiting for deadlines, I would recommend you to try forums at least for once. I'm sure that you are going to love it.
