i saw an ad on tv recently. one of those public service message thingys, promoting surprisingly.. the Sun. it did my heart good really. constantly hearing all the woes and omg the Sun is soo bad for you. seeing people on the streets with their big floppy hats, giNORmous sunglasses, looking all pasty pale vampyric walking undead creatures wearing long sleeves and pants on a blustering 90 degree day.. or worse.. orange streaky fakey fake sunless tanner addicts that look more like the Cool-Aid guy than having a healthy glow to them. there are quite a few necessary benefits to this orb in the sky we all get our livelihoods from, and i think its high time.. PAST time in fact.. that it stopped getting a bumrap for being a negative aspect in this world. being the treehuggingbunnyhumper that i am.. as soon as the temperatures reach to 60, i can be found sprawled half nekked in the grass soaking up some much needed UV and Vitamin D. this occurance, to my extreme pleasure, finally came about today. and as i lay there, listening to the wind, and the birds, and feeling the Earth breath and come alive again.. the winter blahs melted away, the marrow in my bones started to thaw after a rather harsh new england winter, and i smiled to myself and gave thanks for this utterly beautiful day.. and the Star that made it possible. so heres to Ra, my many thanks and undying devotions. so what about you? is there a Sunworshipper somewhere inside? do you ever just turn your face to the Sun, close your eyes and ahhhh?

I've been seeing those commercials also, and I have to say, they warmed the cockles of my heart too! There must be a lot more pagan in me from my Celtic roots than I thought - burn the Catholic guilt away Ra! Burn it I say! Wow! I feel renewed, like a bud coming into flower. Cool! Today I was out in my garden gently brushing the last of the winter debris from the white tulips now pushing through to the surface. I always work in my bare hands because I love the feel of the earth. I thought the soil would be much cooler than it was, as the snow has only been totally gone for a day or so, but it wasn't. It was warm enough to revel in and when I turned up my face to the sun, I finally felt that all was right with my world at that moment. Warming soil, new life, and the sun bright and gently bathing my patch of Eden. Lovely. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share that.
