I've learned over the news weeks ago about a Filipina and her son who were murdered by her Japanese husband, who apparently could not sleep because of their 7 month old son's crying, and was depressed about his job and future according to the report. Weeks after the slain, another Filipina was gruesomely murdered by her Japanese roommate. Parts of her mutilated body were found all over the apartment according to the report. The suspect was also arrested in 1999 for the same heinous crime, mutilating a Filipina, he only served 3 1/2 years in jail for "illegal disposal of a body". Both perpetrators tried to commit suicide afterwards but failed. I am a Filipina and I also have relatives living in Japan. My mother-in-law was there married to a Japanese whom I've already met when they spent their vacation here last October..aside from my mother-in-law, her sister was also there married to a Japanese with whom they have a 16 yr old daughter.. All of them are planning to come here on July to spend a week's vacation with our whole family... After hearing all these crimes over the news, I cannot help myself but to feel a little worried too about the safety of my family there..But as I've known them personally, I believe they are good and descent Japanese men.. And all of them are happily married with their Filipina spouses.. But still I do feel sorry for the families of the victims. I believe it is time for our leaders to seek concrete measures in place to provide immediate relief to Filipina victims of abuse not just here but abroad.. Knowing that majority of Filipina opt to work in other countries and leave their family behind just so they can earn money to provide a better future ..clueless of what kind of life's awaiting for them... I believe this is the time for our nation to respond to the needs of its people, provide more jobs, boost the economy, help uplift lives of the marginal community...in this way, stories such as those of the victims will no longer be heard..

Well, you had been patient typing those information here and I sure do appreciate that. But I believe it's not about the government doing something but we ourselves must do something about it. Filipinas must make a research about the person they intend to marry or suffer the consequences. Anyway, have a wonderful day to you!

Oh this is really gruesome. It is bad enough to kill your wife but your little kid too, OUCH. But then the other one only getting 3 1/2 yrs for murder - I just can't believe it, he should have got life - he took the other woman's life! I think your family are safe enough, they sound really happy! Thanks for sharing this with us.

What stood out for me in your writing was the fact that a person could receive only 3 l/2 years for murder. How could they have the audacity to call it "illegal disposal of a body?" To me, that is an insult. The laws must be changed.
