My Favorite Movie of All Time

The Sound of Music is my favorite movie of all time. I got to go see it when it first came out in my area. I was about 9 or 10 years old. Not too long after that the real Maria VonTrapp was touring the US and came to our area. My mom took me to see her speak. Unfortunately we got a late start and my mom was driving too fast to try to get me there on time and got stopped for speeding, got a ticket, and I was later than I would have been if she had just driven the legal speed. I missed most of Maria's talk, but got to see the end of it. I remember being a bit disappointed because she didn't look anything at all like Julie Andrews. But, hey, I was just a kid. That was over 40 years ago.

its an ok movie. i always wonder why they show it at christmas time though. i have read their real biography and its not really like the movie at all. of course, they made it into a love story. they never really fell in love, she felt it was her God given duty to marry him and become a mother of his kids. also, he felt he was too important to work/do manual labour which is why they formed the sining group. to pay bills.

We're on the same boat, Capirani. I have watched Sound of Music more than ten times and I have memorized all the songs by heart. I can even memorized most of the lines except the long argument between Maria and the Captain when after they fell off the boat.
It's a very inspiring movie and I heard those Von Trapp children or grandchildren are still actively singing in the States nowadays. http://www.vontrappchildren.com/
