Show me how to put the + sign in when its not in mark response?

I hope you members will help be by showing me step-by -step how to put the + sign next to someones response when there number is not in the mark response box.. Like what if its number 34 that has the best response how do I put the plus sign next to that response? I do hope you all out=ther will make time and give me a response to this, it may not only be of help to me but someone out-there may be having the same problem..Am waiting
