One Red Shoe

This morning I awoke to bright sunshine beating a tattoo in my brain. I turned over to shut it out and rolled right off the edge of the bed. SMACK! I lay there stunned for a moment and then slowly opened my eyes to see what the hell it was, that was causing such pain in my forehead. I had to cross my eyes to focus on a sole sloping down over my nose. I grabbed at the offending object, yanked it out of my head, and beheld a 4 inch Red spiked ladies high heel. I looked around for the other one, and couldn't find it. I almost put it back in my forehead to stop the bleeding, but resorted to cold water and Johnson's Elastoplast bandaides instead. Now the shoe wasn't mine. It was a size 5 for one thing, and I have average sized feet ! Three cups of coffee, six aspirin and a slap on the forehead (OUCH!) for forgetting my V8 brought it all back. Smokey bar, loud music, Sangria's by the pitcher and a pair of flashing silk clad legs in 4 inch Red spiked heels. I followed those legs all over the dance floor for hours. Finally they stopped, and those open toed heels turned in my direction and daintily danced their way over to my sensible brogues. The world faded away, the music became muted and romatic as we danced toe to toe out the door and into the velvet night. Things get a little foggy after that. Through the mist of memory I catch glimpses of smooth shoulders, magnificent breasts, a classically pinched waistline and softly rounded inviting hips. The vision becomes electrically charged, heated and sweaty, and entwined in and around and within, long satin strands of blond hair. I lose myself in the blurred images shooting across my inner eye, and reach out to hold on tight to the object of such pleasure, and find myself gripping only, One Red Shoe.

uh, uh, uh, I am stunned, mouth agape, gasping, wow, Spark! If you don't expand and expound on this, you should be taken out and shot. ( I would have said beaten, but I figured you'd like that too much) Your creativity is enormous my dear, as is your sense of humor. Hollywood would love it, except it would never qualify for an R rating. Or an NC17 or whatever it is these days. Those open toed heels and sensible brogues would leave way too much to the imagination, ya know? I'm sitting here shaking my head as I type this, Spark, because you have once again done it. You've presented me with something I have to absorb bit by bit, because every other sentence or two, I have to stop and clearly visualize what you've written, and if Charles Chaplin would have gotten a hold of this back when, well, the world might have been a different place. And if you and p1ke ever get together enough, I think you could inspire each other to god knows where. Please forgive me for not continuing here, Spark, but I will pick this up again, pinkie swear, I have to, I have much more to say, but I can't seem to get it out right at the moment, ok? You know me. So you know that I know best, you know? Know what I mean? You know that I know that you know, don't you? (see?)

It's funny you say I should expound on it. As I was typing it - and yes, it took about 10 minutes, (It was the last thing I wrote here before I went to bed last night.) I was thinking, this would make a great short story. I didn't want to get into what sexes were involved (I own a pair of brogues myself!lol), and so I was thinking - short story, could also be animated for video, showing only legs and feet and flashing hem lines leading into the morning after - shoe in the head and all that! lol I was imagining while I wrote, the whole scenario expanded for a short animated film. I'm not talking cartoon animation, but more like line drawing or even clay animation. Anyway, the point is, the entire idea flowed so easily and at the same time presented 'expounding' into many different mediums. Now THAT, my sweet, is how YOU inspire ME!

Yeah, it's very visually inspiring, Spark. And it's something that I want to look at again tomorrow, with a slightly different perspective than what tonight is giving me. I LOVE what I've read. I love that it makes me stop and picture everything. And I love that I'm so looking forward to revisiting it tomorrow. And I also love that I get to respond to it again. I inspire you, whoa. How I do, I don't know, but how gratifying is that?!!

Sounds like the start of an interesting book. Now is it going to be a romance, suspense , mystery or what?

Oh my no - not another book on the go please! LOL I already have three others in various stages of completion that I'm working on. I think this may just become a series of 'shorts' here on site for our Nova and friends. We'll see. I'm sure as it develops, it will include all of the genres you mentioned plus a lot of humor.

Wow, quite a powerful piece, unlike an earlier poster I am not sure this needs to be expanded upon. I think it works great as an incredibly powerful piece of flash fiction. I like the reference to the annoying V8 commercials.

Flash fiction, nice phrase, Myrrdin. You're right, it stands alone just as it is quite nicely. But I'm a huge fan of Spark's writing, have been for some time, and I find myself greedy when it comes to it. I always want more, somehow. There's another writer here who I feel the same way about. He's a wonder, truly and always leaves me wanting more, too. Whether or not she does decide to expand on this one, or just create another little masterpiece, I'll read with hungry eyes anything she offers. I'm not sure how you found this one, but I'm very glad you did. I love the encouragement she's getting here, and not just from me, this time. Thanks, Myrrdin, darlin. Hey, almost full moon 4/20 time. I'm ready for it. I'm gonna howl like there's no tomorrow!

Oh I like that 'flash fiction'. Is that a real category? Where can I post it? Theses are the kinds of things I write best, so can you give me any links where I can post them? But like all good writing, everything can be expanded upon. The story will evolve and grow, but it won't take away from the original piece I don't think - as long as you don't read them side by side! LOL Thanks myrrdin, I appreciate the input and look forward to hearing from you again.

You are very creative, it held my attention to the end. There has to be loads of sites that would enjoy your writing. Have you ever compiled your stories. Do you always just do short, or do you enjoy doing longer stories as well. I myself enjoy writing poetry. Thanks for sharing, hope you share more.

Hello Deea. Yes I do a lot of writing. I've been published many times, write on the net and do many articles freelance for magazines. I have two books out and several poems published in anthologies, as well as a compilation of my own poems and black and white photographs. I'm currently working on three books, and though I don't write short stories per se, I just may do more. Thank you for saying it held your attention to the end. That is high praise indeed! I would be interested to see some of your poems.

For a minute there you had me believing it was true. Great writing skill. Made me visualize it. Totally. Fantastic! But that is nothing unusual for you.

Oh Spark, thank you so much. You know, you're not the first one who's not quite known how to take me in the beginning. You call your best friend a force of nature, and I call myself a force to be reckoned with. And yes, it is, I think, my purpose to touch people and my sexuality is definitely one avenue I use towards that goal. The thing is, though, you know that there's more to it than that, than the sexuality alone. Oh yeah, it's a big part of me, to be sure, but it's not the only one and thank god you see that. The people that bother to get to know me, that care to delve deeper, to see the heart of me, usually end up loving me, just as I do them. Love is the greatest thing we have to give, and some of us just have more than we know what to do with, so we give it away. But what a gift. And you know how strong my faith in love is, too. I think it was P1ke recently that started a discussion about your epitaph, what would you like it to be, and my response was this. I loved and was loved in return. That is my measure of a life well lived. Boy, you think I should serious up a bit?

Thanks sweets. It's my homage to our lovely and smutty, but still classy, Nova. It's inspired me to write more here. Now there's a 'novel' thought! LOL

Yes Nova, I know exactly what you mean. When I first 'found' you, I wasn't sure how to take you. But I know how to see beyond the words I read and get the 'whole' picture, and what a picture you became for me. We all have a purpose in life, no matter how small it may seem to others, or how large, the ability to reach out and touch people in some way is a gift. Yours is based in your sexuality. How wonderful and liberating for others is that? And how many people can truly 'carry it off' and remain a beautiful 'sum of all her parts', untarnished and always glowing and appreciated in the hearts and minds of those touched lives?
