I swear this world is trying to keep me down!!

It never fails, the more I try to get ahead, the farther behind I get. In the last three months I have gone to two different local food drives. They both asked how many members in each family, and said they give food out based on the numbers. Both times I went through the lines behind single person families. The first one, I got the exact same as the person in front of me, and the second time I actually got less!!! I tried on both occasions to hand them my slip with my number on it, and both times the people just ignored me. What's wrong with this world????? I just want to feed my kids, I'm not trying to use or abuse the system. Both of these occasions cos me more in gas money, than the food was worth. I feel like I should just give up. Is it me or does it seem like the ones living off of the system have it easier than the ones trying to do it themselves?

This seems a bit unfair to me. I think they should work out a system whereby you get sufficient food for each person in our family. It does seem that some people get on better than others, at times, but stay positive because your day has to come. It's all a question of balance, my friend. Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I understand. And my "church" friends have really been supportive. They've helped us out many times. I know my Lord doesn't want to keep me down, but man this world sure does. It seems unfair, but then again who ever said it was going to be?

There are those that do good, for genuine reasons of helping others in need, and there are those who do good for their own satisfaction and salvation. The latter often don't care how they distribute their gifts, as long as they distribute them all, and this kind of unfairness is often a result of their actions. As you and I both said, balance will come, if you can just stay positive long enough. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I completely understand what you are saying. I have been without a home for a month now and without a job just as long. I have three children and I left their dad because of things I will not go into here. I was well off while with their father and now I can not afford to even feed my children, it has been very hard for all of us and it seems that when I try to get help for my kids I just get one door after another shut in my face. I have wondered a few times if I made the wrong decission for my kids as now I have so much more to worry about like where are they going to sleep tonight or what am I going to feed them today. I don't know how so many people get help for years from our system and I just need a little help to get us back on our feet and can not get it at all. I know what you are saying and feel for you.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your own story. I try to help others as much as I can. I offer free babysitting, share unneeded toys, books, movies, clothes, etc... I do this because it helps me stay grounded. And along with that helping, I get to hear other people's stories, and that helps me to remember I am not alone, and many times it could be much worse. You have blessed me today through sharing your troubles, so thank you. And I am truly sorry you are going through such a hard time.
