Ok so my husband is in the military and so we have to use the docotors on base, (lame for us) and I was wondering if maybe it's just the military pediatric doctors that suck or is it most doctors. I mean if my child is obviously scared of you (she is 19 months) maybe take some time to talk to her and i first. I dont know, maybe play with her for a minute? Whats 2 minutes out of out appt together? It would make things go alot smoother, that way my daughter isn't crying and scared of you the whole examination. The doctor i saw yesterday, walked in, said hello, and just started touching her, it freaked her out! Not to mention he wouldnt listen to me, just kept assuming what the problem was. I had to keep correcting him. Irritating.... Anywho, is there anyone elese with this problem?

I think that maybe its just that doctor and not really the entire lot of them. My children happen to have a very good pedia and I love him too. He is so good with my kids and very sensitive to children. My children always loves to go to his clinic even if they have to be injected because he is super nice to them and we really feel so at home with him. His clinic is just a playroom with lots of toys to amuse the children. He really is the type of pedia who genuinely loves children. Though he is expensive since he is into private practice.

That sounds wonderful! I would love to take her to one like that! I was mucho irritated at the time of the post, and i know there has to be wonderful docotrs out there. Sadly none of them reside on base. Hopefully we'll get that new doctor in soon and he/she will be better!

Some doctors just never should have gone into the pediatric field. We rarely see an actual "pediatrician", instead we go to the family practitioners. You'd think that they wouldn't be as good with little ones since that's not their specialty but we've had a lot of luck with them. I even ran into our main one at Kmart the other day and we talked for a bit about the kids...she's a mom too so I'm sure that helps. But then there's our pediatric cardiologist...I can't wait for things to go through for us to switch to a different one. This one doesn't talk to my son at all (he's 5 so he is capable of conversation), he insists that 'Dad' is always present and only talks to him about our son's condition...as if I'm just the dumb female that wouldn't understand and can't handle it alone.

I agree... I wonder why they chose the field if they really don't enjoying working with kids! My husband is going to go to training to become a Physician's Assistant through the military and after that maybe become a pediatrician, but that's just because he enjoys being around children and knows how to be patient with them. UGH! I think your cardiologist needs to be strung up by his ankels! HA! I bet that is very irritating, I hope you get to switch soon!
