I'm thinking of starting my own webcomic

I don't think it can be that hard to start a webcomic. I don't think it is completely neccesary to have a joke in every comic (even though they will be frequent) as long as I keep a good story going. My story will probably be the standard atypical heroes go on quests in persuit of their ultimate goal. Here come my questions: What sort of software do you think I should use to make the comics? I'm thinking of going for something easy like Paint since I have the artistic skill of a small rock. The pictures don't have to be good, the bad drawing can be part of the joke. Where would you suggest hosting it? I would like to use something that would let me add advertising to make a bit of income if I manage to gain popularity. Thanks for any contribution
