I was on my way home from work from a nightshift this morning and listening to the radio on one of my favorite stations and heard a pretty bad case of luck for one of the radio jocks. She was telling her listeners that she just got a kitten about two months ago and felt that because it's springtime now he wanted to try the outdoors after being indoor for the winter. She had her front door opened and the cat ran out and she had one of those kinds of doors where it locks automatically if you shut it, so it closed on her and she got locked outside in her socks and shorts and no jacket when it was still chilly out. At this time she also had a pot of boiling potatoes on the stove. She was running up and down her alley and street calling for her cat and meowing so he would be able to find her. I'm guessing that's her usual way of calling her kitten. She tried using her BBQ utensils to crack her lock for her door but that didn't work, then she thought about breaking the window to enter but didn't want to do that either. So she goes to her neighbor's place which happened to have an extra key for her place. She went back in her house after she got her key and turned off the boiling pot of potatoes and went to look for her cat again. She finally found him underneith a covered deck in someone's backyard and had to get him out. After getting him out she took him home. Talk about a bad luck of a day! The thing I thought about was that she must have trusted her neighbor enough to leave a key at their house, I don't think I could do that. I don't trust people enough to allow them to have a key to my place. Would you?

That's very unfortunate for the DJ! My parents always leave their keys with our neighbours, and I think we have their spare keys. Our neighbours are very trustworthy-- we've known them for years and always say hi when we can. One of them is a retired policeman, too.

See now there's a great neighbor to have.. a person who is or was a policeman. Or just really trustworthy instead. Our landlords are our neighbors so they automatically have the key but they are home only in the evenings due to their working schedule so if something were to happen like this to my hubby or I then we wouldn't know what to do hehehe. thanks for your comment
