Is it true that love is sweeter the 2nd time around?

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 6 years now. But I must say that the first 2 years, my boyfriend betrayed my trust. He had this other girl. When I found out, we really fought that we broke up. But he realized that he does not wanna lose me and I know to myself that I still love him and I can forgive him after all. They say that trust, once violated is hard to come by. But I realized that trusting is a choice we make and I am very happy that I made the right choice. Second chances can lead to a more romantic and deeper kind of love as the past experiences with that person make both lovers more mature and it gives the opportunity to prove that people can improve/change for the better. It also gives the opportunity to prove that true and unconditional love can surpass all and makes love sweeter the second time around.
