A couple of months ago I started looking though some literature on joing the air force. I finally spoke with a recruiter today to ask questions and find out things that the website and pamphlets don't tell. After talking to a recruiter I found no reasons why I shouldn't join. It would be nice to be able to talk to someone who either is or once was in the air force....

A great place to start is military.com they have a great forum where you can ask anything. Somethings you should think about: How they do their job placement. I mean, you do have to take the ASVAB, but beyond that. For example, you may take your ASVAB and get a 86 and choose jet mechanic, for example. Do they actually put you in a jet mechanic spot, or do you choose a catergory that has many types of mechanics and they stick you with any type of mechanic. What enlistment bonuses are available? If you have bills, how is your check deposited? The Army lets you keep your current bank account, the Marine Corps do not. I believe the AF lets you keep your current account. When is the 1st time you will get paid? How will that affect any bills that need to be paid out of our account? If you are interested, how much will you GI Bill be for? Does that increase based on what MOS you choose? If you have a spouse and/or kids that you want stationed with you, how long will you be separated before you can live together again?
