I love growing my own vegetables. It's really more of a hobby, though. Each year I'll do something different with the garden. One year I made it a maze. Last year was a wash - we had torrential rains off and on through June, and almost everything drowned. I managed to salvage a few late season tomatoes from one plant. This year, instead of doing the row thing like last year, I'm making mounds in the garden, at least a foot high, and planting fewer plants. No green beans or radishes this year, but I have some tomato plants, a bell (sweet) pepper plant, and one jalapeno plant so far. In the next week or so, I'll probably add a couple of squashes and some cucumbers. In the front yard, I think I'll make some mounds and plant some pumpkins. If they take off like they did a couple of years ago, and the vines start to take over the yard, I'll have less to mow. Do you like growing your own vegetables and fruits? Do you consider it a chore or fun to work in the garden?

I consider it a chore, I just have never been a keen gardener at all. I want to try and change though, I think that it would be lovely to be able to grow my own veggies and flowers and things. We are having our garden done in June, so you never know, maybe I will give it a go once the garden is lovely and new!!

I have over 150 pepper plants, some are jalapenos, sweet longs and large green all in my greenhouse. Plus over 70 tomato plants, around 20 cucumbers, zuchini, summer squash and broccoli all planted and growing. As soon as we can get the garden ready we will be planting all of these plus potatoes, peas, beans, carrots and beets. We are serious about our garden!
