Well, it is a difficult concept(it is a good subject for "nerds"), but here is the skinny. The difference is the amount of data a CPU can process per clock cycle.... Drivers are designed to work with 32bit or 64 bit - sometimes both. That's what Jes is talking about ... (for example a 32 bit printer driver, or a 64 bit printer driver) 64 bit CPUS can handle more memory and larger files... Servers tend to be 64bit.... Game designers love 64bit too and 64bit processors give programmers much more power to play with... Hope this helps!

does all programs run, in 64bit OS like vista?? And is it true that if you are into gaming 64bit is more effective that 32 bit?

No, not all applications run with 64 bit.. Games that are developed for 64 bit tend to be more robust...

32bit OS are the Operating System which has a word length of 32bit and 64bit Operating Systems use a word length of 64bit. which means that the type of instructions that operating system can process which increase the functionality of the operating system. or even the speed of the machines gets improved. both the OS have their own set of Drivers and Applications. a 64 Bit OS can 32bit applications too but the output / performance not changes

it is the drivers with your devices like adapters. Most of the drivers are still in 32-bit.
