someone owes me money

I did some work for a client and the client now refuses to pay the total bill. After a long and frustrating fight I am willing to accept a settlement. How should I structure the proposed settlement letter

have you already agreed upon the amount to be paid? i think the letter should state that it waives any further demand for payment, that is considered payment in full for all services rendered.. but thats from my angle as the customer and engineer, i wouldn't want to pay an agreement only to have them come back later for more money.. that doesn't fly
