If u are a firefighters wife/husband or significant other is there certain calls that they go to that when they get up and go that gives u abad feeling? Do u ask them not to go? My husband is a firefighter and also a first responder and there has been a few calls that he has been called out to that i got a bad feeling about and i admit i did ask him not to go and sure enough on a few things got so bad that he had to call the cops.

No spouse or significant other in that area, but there have been firefighter in my family all my life, from my daddy, brother, sister, nephews, and at one time even myself. Remember, that they do go through extensive training, and they are not alone, they use the buddy system. you wont be able to keep from worring due to the situation, or having a bad gut feeling, but remember, those firefighters are heros, and heros will do what heros will do.

You might consider either starting or joining a group that consist of firefighters spouses, and maybe police spouses. I know that while I was in the military there were such groups and the wives were able to lend each other support. I know that in firefighting they are not gone so long as with the military, it would still do you good to talk to someone that is in the same situation as you are.

You can ask him not to go but he will still go.Maybe you could just tell him that you have a bad feeling and to be extra careful.

there has only been a couple of times that i did not ask him to go but if i get that feeling and i don't ask him not to go i tell him to be extra careful.

Being a firefighter/emt I can say there are calls that give eerie feelings. But I know where your hubby stands...helping others is a driving force within him. I am proud of him and don't tell him enough. If you don't have a scanner get one and listen it will help most of the times. You hearing his voice is a comfort zone. If ya ever need to talk at any time you got my number my phone always rings. Just gotta figure out if home or cell is the one ya need to call. I'll be there for ya.
