What's your ideal size of house?

I think each one of us wants to own a house. Others might want a big house or a mansion while some will be contented with just a small house. If money is not a problem, what's the ideal size of house for you? For me, I would be happy owning a lot at least 500 sqm. I will use 200 sqm as lot area for the house and use the rest for garage and garden.

hello heart143, how are you doing? nice to see you out here again. anyway, to answer your question my dream home is just a small shack. i am used to living in a home like that and i never really care. as long as it is a home and to me that is all that matters. now, if we will pick a home based on as a couple. we are looking for a lot at least 2 acre but right now we can only find 1.16 acre to the area that we like and the house is at least 2400 sqm i have found an old farm house (3000 sqm) that has 18 acre on it with a horse ranch around plus a pond but it is way too far from his soon to be work place and that is just sad coz i really like the area just the house is not new coz it was built at 1920 but still i love that it is in the country area. oh well, at least the one we are looking is really nice, new subdivision and i love the fact that it is isolated and there are so many hard woods in it. hopefully we can save for that till next year. im keeping my fingers cross. btw, it is nice to know that you like to do gardening. i love it too. i have many plants inside and out our apartment and i am proud that my lilies are blooming (glad they didnt die, haha) takecare and have a good one!

Hello my dear friend Jairgirl! Wow! That's really a big space you are looking for. God willing, I also want to have a property as big as that but that involves a big amount of money and I know I cannot afford that unless I win the lotto tonight . For now, I'll be contented with my simple and achievable target for me but I'll still hope that someday I can get a bigger lot. I'm not really good at gardening but I'm not also bad in it . My daughter loves flowers so now I plant flowering ones. Thanks for the response and God bless...

I am lucky enough to have found a house that I love. It is about 3,700 square feet. The first floor is my basement which is divided into 2 spaces. The laundry area and an in - law suite. The in law suite has a bathroom, bedroom and living area. ~The second floor has my dining room, kitchen, living room, play / computer room. ~The third floor has 4 bed rooms. ~and the fourth floor is a walk in finished attic. It is split in two one side is my older kids play room and the other is my craft room. ~I have about 2 acres of land too. I found the house very cheap so I have been upgrading slowly but going to have every room done by the end of the year. We have been in the house since June of 06.

Honestly I got lucky with my house. It was on the market for a while and they kept lowering the price. My house is about a 100 years old. The house was very cheap for the size. Cheaper then most of the houses in the area. So although I have a huge house it is old and needs work. I like that about the house. The price allows me to have the money to spend on updates. And we are updating like CRAZY.

Yes, I agree with you. It's useless having a big house when you only have a small family.

I am one of the lucky ones heart, I own my own house. It is a two bedroomed - with the possibility of turning a third room into another bedroom, two bathrooms and a huge living room come kitchen. Upstairs terrace looks out on to the caribbean sea and the balcony outside the main bedroom and kitchen looks out on to the communal garden and pool. That is enough for me. It takes me around 2.5 hrs to clean as long as I keep doing other bits and pieces during the rest of the week. Anything bigger than that then I would need a cleaner and i prefer to do it myself. We have a car space but don't have a car, no need. I think I would probably prefer to have my house in its own grounds but it is fun having neighbours around and we don't have to worry about security, the gardener or pool maintenance. So we have the best of all worlds. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Well currently my husband and I stay in a 700+ sq ft apartment with 3 rooms. One room is ours, another has been converted into an office cos we both work from home, the 3rd will be our baby room but baby hasn;t arrive yet so for now it is our storage room. When money is not the case, we would like to get a landed house instead of apartment. I definitely need a music room for my keyboard, piano. A pc room for as my husband's workstation, A bigger kitchen -wet and dry cos I cook. A laundry area, a library and study. And a moderate size garden so we can rear dog again.A guest room. 3 more rooms for our children (in future)

i prefer a small house with a garden for me to plant my favorite veggies, tomatoes, beans and some herbs of course. It has to have a fireplace, not those gas ones, but a real firewood fireplace, so that in cold winter nights, i can light it up and have some coffee/hot chocolate and talk nicely with my friends and families. it has to have a cosy study room also with all my books, from academic to novels i love romantics heyhey...the bedroom doesnt have to be big, but i want to buy the best quality bed that i can afford. the kitch must be modern but not exaggerate and doesnt have to excessive. i need a stove of course a nice quality fridge, a good microwave, a kettle and that is it
