Tony Stewart Leaving Joe Gibbs Racing

There are rumors that Tony Stewart wants to leave JGR, possibly at the end of this season. This would be one year before the end of his contract. The rumors have him going to Haas/CNC, which fields the 66 and 70 cars. They are reportedly offering him partial ownership. There is also speculation that it could have something to do with JGRs switch to Toyota. Tony's sprint car teams are sponsored by Chevy, so his driving a Toyota could be causing problems there. All sides involved are denying any and all rumors. So, do you think this would be a good move for Tony? Could he make a difference at Haas/CNC or would it effectively kill his career?

Tony is great driver and will do well wherever he goes, but for Tony being part owner is very appealing to him and I think if Gibbs was smart he has talked about adding a car he should invite Tony to share ownership if he wants to keep him.

Yeah I heard about this yesterday. I cannot believe this would happen. He is in a position with a great race team that have been all but dominant in the opening weeks of the 2008 season. I can see why he wants to be a partial or complete owner, but when you are on board with a well established team, I would think you want to stick with as long as possible. I think he better just stay where he's at and continue with his success.

I have serious doubts that Tony Stewart would leave a winning Gibbs team for a losing Haas team. It is my understanding that the Haas people may have approached Tony and discussed a partial ownership deal but that doesn't mean that Stewart is considering it. Tony is about winning races and winning championships. He would blow his whole career if he made a move from Joe Gibbs Racing.

I am sure that Tony driving a Toyota is hurting him and his sprint car teams. It is a conflict of interest so to speak. I also heard the same rumor of him leaving and I really think the issue of him being partial owner is the key here. I am not too sure if it is a good move just yet, but is fans will follow him where ever he goes. He is well established in the Nascar circuit and knows enough to go to Haas/CNC and take on the roll given. It is a shame for JGR however and I think Tony moving may hurt Joe Gibbs more than it would hurt Tony.

By staying with Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart is killing his career. He needs a better car plain and simple.

No one is hurting Stewart but Stewart himself. He, and his temper, are his own worse enemies. I'm surprised he finds any sponsorship at all. He should go back to open-wheel, where he came from, and leave NASCAR SAFELY alone!

Tony seems to have sooooooooooooo many problems with and complaints about NASCAR that he should just QUIT it and go BACK to open-wheel he came from. We don't need his continual whining!! Quit whining or quit NASCAR!!!

This is a great move on Tony's part. I think when the Gibbs team decided to go to Toyota's that make up Tony's mind to switch teams, since he had always drove Chevy's. As you can see his car is not preforming as well as the Chevy's. Good luck Tony, smart move!!! CHEVY'S ALL THE WAY!!!!
