is this right?

Here in New Zealand we have just had our national day of remembrance (ANZAC day) where the fallen from all wars are remembered for their sacrifice for their country. Shops are not allowed to open on this day until 1pm . My gripe is this. For several days before this public holiday we have been bombarded with advertising for specials and sales in the stores for that day. Is it right for this day, sacred to many, to be used for profit making in such a blatant way?.
