Locks Of Love

Hello all my MyLots friends. Its been several months since I have been on here. I lost my mother to cancer this past July, and it has been an emotional road to try to get back to normal every day living, after being her caregiver for 35 months. In honor of my beloved mother, I have been growing my hair from my shoulders, and now it is to my waist. Has any one donated their hair, or know of anyone that has to the Locks Of Love, to make wigs for patients with no hair? One again, hello to all, and I will try to spend more time in here with all my friends.

Hi Missyann. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I do not know anyone who has ever donated hair to that foundation but I do think that what you have set about doing is noble. It is always a blessing when we learn to help others based on our own suffering.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, cancer is such a difficult illness to lose a loved one to. Well done on your recovery and getting back to day to day life =) Several of my friends have shaved their hair and donated it to the Australian Leukaemia foundation, and raised a tonne of money for Cancer Research in the last two years. It's such a brave and wonderful thing to do, and one day I hope I have the strength to do it too =) Have a fantastic day =D Mal

I looked into locks of love when I lost my hair to chemotherapy, and I was told it goes to young children with cancer. Once my hair starts growing back I do plan on growing it long enough to donate to locks of love.

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. I too lost my Mum to cancer a little over 6 years ago and recently I was talking about her to my daughter and she mentioned seeing something about "Locks Of Love" on TV and decided right there and then that she was going to grow her hair out for the single act of donating it. She is 10 years old and wise beyond her years, although, now her hair is all over the place. I asker her about it yesterday and she says she wants it to grow just a little more as she hopes to have enough for 2 kids...I could not be any prouder of her.

I am actually getting ready to send my hair off to locks of love my hair was on its way to my knees and I made my husband cut it. ( note to self ) dont ever let your husband cut your hair, ok well I put the rubber band in and told him to cut one inch above the band and then had to wear my hair in a bun for the next 2 days because he went from 1 inch above all the way up to 3 inches above the band so I had to wait for my girlfriend to come over and fix it. The minute she saw it she laughed and said to tell him that he was fired. after I get off mylot I am going to the locks of love site to print out the form. I'm sorry to hear about your mother.

First Im sorry to hear about your mother. Im sure you have been having a rough time with it. Im glad to hear you spent alot of time with her in her last few years. As far as locks of love go I have donated to them before. I went for a hair cut 2 years ago and my hair was past the middle of my back. I got 10 inches cut off and donated to locks of love. It didnt leave me with much hair but I felt I did a good thing. My hair will grow back and I was able to help someone who dosent have any. My hair has since grown and is down to the middle of my back again. I dont know if Im going to get it cut just yet. I kind of like having long hair for now. But im sure one day I will feel the need for a cut and what a better way to help someone than to give my hair to them. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper
