Does Field trips are needed to have the students learn more...???

One of my teacher in highschool said that.. You can learn more besides staying in classroom and reading books and answering homeworks... SO SCHOOLS SPECIALLY IN HIGHSCHOOL. Field trips are required too. But Some Students just hangout when they are in a a school trip... So for this generation... Is A Field trip need to learn more or just made the students do there other things.....
