Is facebook helping you get in touch with old friends or meeting new ones?

For me, facebook is a great way to find old friends, just now, I've found lots of friends of my school that i haven't seen in years...
However, i haven't used it to meet new people, i'm a bit scared of allowing people that i don't know to see my pics, vids or anything i have on my page.
What do you think?

I have a few friends on facebook, well a lot actually that I went to school with but I don't even talk to half of those people so I'm not even sure why they are there. I've actually had more luck connecting with more people on Myspace than on Facebook.

I also have found lots of friends from my old school out west that I have not seen in years. I actually met up with one of them when I went back out to Alberta to live for a little while. I have used it a LITTLE bit to meet new people. I have for sure met one person in real life after meeting them on facebook. The same with myspace, I have met people in real life from myspace.
