Indian Mango with "ALAMANG" ~shrimp paste~ - Bagoong Alamang
Bagoong Alamang is Filipino a shrimp paste, made from minute shrimp or krill (alamang) and is commonly eaten as a topping on green mangoes or used as a major cooking ingredient. Bagoong paste varies in appearance, flavor, and spiciness depending on the type. Pink and salty bagoong alamang is marketed as "fresh", and is essentially the shrimp-salt mixture left to marinate a few days. This bagoong is rarely used in this form, save as a topping for unripe mangoes. The paste can be sauteed with various condiments, and its flavour can range from salty to spicy-sweet. The colour of the sauce will also vary with the cooking time and the ingredients used in the sauteeing.

Good Day Mylotters! I don't know but when I woke up this morning, I suddenly crave for MANGOES... specifically for "INDIAN MANGOe's" with "ALAMANG" or "Shrimp Paste" so I went to the market and bought mangoes. My mom made the "shrimp paste" for us. I simply love it! What about you guys? What do you cravveeee for today? Cheers!

AS you know i am from India and we have so different type of fruits especially now here Mango season so i have been eating so many fruits and of course that fruit gives good taste that other fruit.

Hi honey...are you sure you're not substituting the Chocolate for Something else? I am a Certafied Choco-holic. I just can't get enough....it's all I think about ...well...that and Coca-cola. I have Hershey-syrup instead of Blood in my Veins. It's true. I love chocolate that much. Well...that and Coca-cola. The Only thing you could possibly add to make it better is pizza. I'm a junk-food junkie. No twinkies please....they gross me out! How long have you been having this obsession with Chocolate. I've been a Choco-holic for about 40 yrs. now....and I'm only 38 ( ha ha ha ha ) Love to you my friend..........Rogue

Speaking of mangoes, my cousin brought us carabao mangoes yesterday and it was really delicious. We ate the whole lot of it and I'm still craving for it now. Also, the day before yesteday, my brother also brought a bunch of indian mangoes! Yuummmyy!!

Hello there jesbellaine. Right now, I'm still in my "shift" and I'm craving nothing more than fish and chips, don't know why, ha! I love the taste of the really fried fish and the fries plus the mayo. I am not a big eater but when I crave, I tend to search high and low for the thing or food that I crave so much at a particular time. By the way Alamang sounds pretty delicious. i woke up this morning and the firstthing i thought about was to take a god vacation outside this country and just go to a place where no one knows me and simply get lost in a place like hawaii or the bahamas,this is my craving and it has been so strong snce a week now,as for food it just comes and goes

Oh, I love mangoes, too. Though I am not craving for it now. But it has been one of my favorites. But eversince I got pregnant, I had the cravings for anything but sour. I mostly like sweets now. I crave for ice cream, cakes, donuts and our native halo halo.

I am not a mongo person....the texture kindo' weirds me out. But I love Peaches. Especially hot peach Cobbler ( that's the Best) I also love star fruit , that's pretty good. I just think of it as a really cool lookin' Orange.

Hi dear jes, I like mango as well. When taking about mango I suddenly crave for having “kerabu”. Kerabu is a Malay word. It is a kind of vegetable salad. We prepare the salad using raw green mango instead of vegetable. The mango is cut into long narrow stripes and mixed together with dried shrimps, onions, spicy small green chili, a little salt and sugar. It’s yummy indeed.

I suggest you try Thailand mango called the "elephant tusk" mango. If you try this one i think you will get addicted to it. The sweetness is so great and natural too good to compare with other mangoes ;).

Would join you in having some of those Indian Mangoes, not sure about the shrimp paste with though. Never had anything with my mangoes before only if its combined with other fruits for a fruit salad. Ido love shrimp though, how is the paste made? will try anything once, so would like to try shrimp paste with my mangoes sometime!
