How can you detect or know someone if he/she lies?

Are there ways of telling how a person lies? If there is, what and how? How can they be use to greater good? Are there experts at telling if someone lies? Are'nt they scary because you can't lie to that person?
My cousins read a book about How to Tell when Someone Lies. I don't know if it is true. So help me. I also want to learn how to detect lies.

People are becoming very clever when it comes to telling lies but i do know that later down the track everyone get caught by their lies, i don't tell lies simply because I just would not have the memory of what lies i have told as the truth never changes so I think it is best just to tell the truth in the first place.
