Hi Venkat, I grow curry leaves, coriander and pudhina or mint etc. I have lots of lime at home and coconuts too. We can have greens and sprout fenugreek leaves also. All of them look fresh and nice. That nice flavour comes when you take the leaves for cooking.. You can easily grow mint at home. When you buy mint just use the leaves and plant the stems. That's enough.

Hi Venkat, Get some fenu greek seeds or the methidana and sow them in a pot. You'll get them to grow nicely. Fresh methi leaves is very good for our recipes. Don't you think so. It is very good for health. Even if you do not use it in the cooking , just mix it up with Atta and make methi paratha... yummmmmy it is. I love it.

curry leaves - one of the herb that I use regularly in my cooking
I have Basil (Tulasi) at home, and I am not so sure of the scientific name, but it is called as Karpooravalli, we also have curry leaf tree and also coriander leaves and mint leaves. It is really nice to pluck fresh coriander, curry leaves and mint and use it in daily cooking. My daily rasam have all the three of these in a reasonable quantity and it tastes heaven.

To answer your last question first. I really don't know which would be best grown inside as I have my little herb garden outside in the back yard where all the fruit trees are. In this garden I'm currently growing chives, parsley and chadon beni (culantro) this is local herb and I'm not sure if it is known around the world. When I was in the USA I didn't see it anywhere I went though. Pertaining to what they are good for, I honestly don't know off-hand but my dad has a book that is filled to the brim with information on herbs, even ones I have never heard of before. I should take a look at it. Right now the only other thing I'm growing is hot peppers, although I'm thinking of planting some tomatoes and sweet (bell) peppers too.
