First of all I want to say that I am a big fan of documentaries. I just finished watching the 10-episode documentary about life aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, and I must say that it touched me as nothing else has in quite awhile. I became absorbed in the stories of some of the crew members to the point that I came away with the feeling that I actually knew them. I never thought I would be interested in such a documentary. I thought it would be boring. I tuned in the first night simply because there was nothing better on TV. I immediately became involved. My question to you is did you see the documentary? If so, how did it make you feel? The amount of hard work and sacrifice displayed by most of these men and women was humbling. I would advise anyone to see this documentary if they get the chance. It was aired on PBS from April 27-May 1, and I was sorry to see it come to an end. They have a wonderful website in case you are interested. I just Googled Carrier/Documentary.

I watched this documentary too, how great it was. I loved the show. My favorite was the young kid that had gotten his girlfriend pregnant, or maybe it was him could have been her old boyfriend turns out. How tough it must be on these young kids. I was amazed how dedicated they were to the country. The pilots were sure dynamic. I don't think I could do what these people do for a living. The sleeping quarters alone would be too much for me! It sure is like a floating city. My hats off to these people for protecting the world.

You are so right, whywiki! Just watching it made my heart swell with pride. I also felt very sad for the young man who wanted so badly to do the right thing. I'm sure that in the long run he will find everything worked out for the best. Those pilots made me want to rush right out and grab myself one.

I was also able to catch this documentary on tv a few weeks ago. It caught my interest off gaurd as well. It amazed me how the women were able to make such sacrifices of joining the military, and performing these dangerous jobs. I must say it did inspire me to want to join the military at some point. I am glad they aired this documentary because it gives young adults who are looking to join the military a glimpse of reality.
